We all know how bad he was. He’s moved on now, would be nice if some of the fanbase could too

Nah, I'm still celebrating this marvellous news from two days ago.

John Jules would be a huge risk. His injury record is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Makes James Wilson look robust! However he is very talented & as you say got great pedigree, wouldn’t be against a short term deal maybe until January see how he gets on or a 12 month contract myself

Ah yeah didn't realise until I just read more into it.  He's had a couple of bad ones already and only 23, probably better to steer clear although the fact Moore has signed him twice suggests he likes him.  Looks like he went off in January had surgery in Feb and not played since so may not even be ready to start training yet if it was a bad one. Possibly why he's not turned up on trial somewhere as with his pedigree as a youth player he wouldn't be short of finding clubs to do a pre-season with you'd imagine.

Yeah it’s pretty bad his injury record mate. Shame as he’s a good player. Like you say Moore has signed him a couple of times previously though so wouldn’t be suprised if he did again. Certainly won’t be a 2-3 year deal like we’ve been dishing out this window. His best goal scoring & injury spell was at Doncaster when he played under Moore so we never know mate

Well we don't select him and that triggers the appearance call back clause

Clubs already do that and recall players stuck on a bench or not making a match day squad if another club can give more guaranteed games e.g Weir last season.

What you’re suggesting is the club, who owns the player, responsible for his  development has no say if a player performs well. Players would never get loaned out if that was the case.

If we loaned Shorrock to Chester in NLN and he tore it up I would want us to either send him to a NL club to aid his development or recall him to our squad rather than be stuck at the club.

I think you have to bear in mind Blaster and Devine to a lesser extent were exceptional loans which we are unlikely to see again.

My plan would be that loan players out on a season long loan, should be exactly that, the whole season. Parent clubs should only be able to recall on matters of: fitness/injury, or lack of opportunities, or to permanently transfer him on, or to recall into their own playing squad, otherwise only loan him out on a half season loan. I don't think players should be recalled from a season long loan just to loan out somewhere else.

I’d have agreed with them last season except Wilson and Uche were still more convincing than Loft was.

It does seem odd that the worst strike force in memory has gone on to better things. Uche arguably with a Scottish Prem move, Wilson and Loft go to League 1. Yet our best performer in league 1 in Harrison gets to sit on a league 2 bench all last season!

The Scottish Prem (SPL) is only Prem in name remember. Macclesfield are in the Northern Premier League (Tier 7 or 8), for example. Most teams in the SPL get most of their English players from L2/NL, therefore that's clearly the standard with one or two exceptions.

From a striker point of view I think we are a little vulnerable if Stockley was to get injured. I’m sure. that’s where DM saw Loft as a back up and presumably he left because he wanted to be playing every week. Interesting to see what DM does.

That's why I fully expect at least one more forward in,maybe even 2 if he plans go 2 up top,I would guess one will be a young loan

I don't like the season loan, I think they should be banned personally but they are always going to be set-up in the favour of the clubs owning the player. It has to be that way.

I would have a maximum loan period of 6 months. That way it stops players going from club a then club b cherry picking the best loans in the previous 6 months, which I think is fundamentally wrong. A 6 month loan enables a club owning a player to get them out to test them in a different environment before reassessing them for the next steps and would aid his development. I'd be happy in the scenario using Shorrock as an example.

It would be interesting to understand the stats around how many players actually on a season long loan stay with the initial club beyond the 1st 6 months.

I'd go 12 month deal + 1 year in clubs favour.

If he can have a sustained period of fitness he's going to be extremely valuable. If it's a 6 month deal then he would probably leave for nothing to a higher club in Jan. As 4th choice striker at this stage plus the flexibility of our squad I think he would be well worth the gamble given his age.
