Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Featured Replies

Are people sure that Flitcroft isn’t a Stoke fan? We still have the same owner, are a league lower, yet are seemingly signing way better players than what he could find us in League One.

Was it a deliberate ploy to waste Carol’s money loading us up with mediocre players and ignoring obvious gaps in the squad? Even sticking with an anonymous manager like Crosby when we could’ve had a “Former Professional Footballer” manager like Moore, who would help attract players.

Basically, anything he could’ve done wrong he seems to have done wrong.

No good beating Loft up he as gone and got us money .

In fact because of that I hope he smashes it with Cambridge.

I get the feeling more good news is on the way regarding outgoings and if they fetch undisclosed money I'll be doing the conga (up the Vale getting away strip fri).

DM you f--king legend

Ollie Watkins made my heart beat so fast last night I had to calm down for a hr last time like that Vale at Wembley the loft news well it's great news for RL and the Vale .

Joking apart I'd say out of his depth at the higher level or his gift of the gab perhaps ran out of luck? Some would go further and say an out and out conman.  We have to remember his recruitment was half decent at least in League Two(as we got promoted when all was said and done), whether that was because of him or inspite of him is down to conjecture/guess work.

It just started to go hopelessly wrong after 6 months in League One where the recruitment got gradually worse and decisions on/off the pitch went from bad-worse. I honestly think the whole Clarke situation played a part too but that's another issue.  Crosby was also a professional footballer but I agree he wasn't a manager or front man and a poor appointment.

Proof will be in the pudding as to the current signings obviously, but on the face of it they would appear a class above what we've had in the last couple of years and at a league lower.  It's now up to Moore to get a tune out of them as he's certainly been backed by the owners it would seem.

With the sending off you are talking opinion  not fact. He has a history of getting angry, this is the same played who was in trouble for fighting a fan at Dundee the season before he joined us. It's at least as likely the sending off was the red mist again. He was certainly foolish to do that. You are free to have an opinion on a player, you can even have an opinion on the reason for a sending off but it's not a fact he got sent off on purpose, that is your opinion.

I apologise for saying that you speak drivel, you don’t.

No matter what the opinion is if he downed tools or not, the main thing for me is that he’s just not a very good footballer. I hope he goes soon.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it @werstayinup

Really hope Loft does well at Cambridge.

Was on a hiding to nothing here when a large section of idiotic Vale fans looked at his Wikipedia record + Bristol Rovers comments and made their mind up on him.

I know. Luckily those stats were completely wide of of the mark and the signing we'd chased all summer went on to score 25 goals.

His treatment has been shocking.

Someone telling him to "F OFF" as he was warming up. Booing and jeering him when he gets subbed on/off. Ironic cheers when he has a shot on target.

Would love him to score 20 goals next season.

So one of our fans told him to f off if so no wonder is confidence looked shot .

Anyway a new start for the lad and Vale possibly bringing another in .

Wouldn't be surprised if it's a ex Sheffield Wed forward .

Some of the treatment of Loft was poor I agree.

I honestly think some of our fans once they've made their mind up on a player will never be swayed whatever they do. Look at Constantine for example, was never really liked despite scoring 38 goals in 18 months.  I used to say they mistook effort for quality.

Although last season I suspect some were looking for a scapegoat for the teams ills on the pitch and Flitcroft's failings to take it out on, and Loft being as we'd paid a reasonable fee for him got the brunt of it. You can understand that as they've paid their dues and it was a desparately poor season.  But some of the personal abuse was dire, I've heard it before off Vale fans at away games directed at the oppos players normally. Some of it would make milk turn at times.

As a player you can either think right you bastards I'll show you or go in your shell and think I cba.  It depends how strong you are mentally I guess.

All that said I'll be amazed if Loft gets near 20 goals in a season at league level.  His best tally is what 9 in league two? I hope for his sake he can resurrect something of a (pro)career but when alls said and done his Vale chapter is not one either side will want to remember so we should draw a line under it.

Incredible

Yep , unbelievable Jeff 👍

Don't go on that Wonder of PortVale site on facebook but  I bet they are happy now .

Be interesting see who else is going .

I gotta feeling that someone's going which will annoy some folk on here(the majority ).

If so and we get a undisclosed for him wow what a great summer .

Cannot honestly believe what's happening at Vale .

I think Carol was a tiny bit annoyed at being relegated .

Fired her up and 8 players and 1 outgoing later (with more to go )well all I say is good on her .

Well done CS .

The Vale be like a phoenix rising from the Ashes

I felt sorry for Loft. It's not his fault that teams keep giving him a contract. He's just nowhere near good enough to be a professional footballer.

His career would suggest otherwise
