Didn’t do that much when he played for Barnet.

Whilst I think some are creaming themselves a bit too much over Hall as he wasn't brilliant in League One we've been awful in defence since he left the last 18 months(some real Sunday league standard moments😱).  He could just be that player that brings better out of Smith and also Debrah so from that point of view I'm hoping a welcome addition!

Being greedy, and looking at the business we've done so far, I would want an up grade on Plant. But yes, he could certainly play there. Probably his preferred position.

Thing is we’re not in league one, we’re in league two where no one can deny he was excellent for us. Did well for the majority at Colchester at that level up until he was made captain apparently. Seen a couple mentioned he could be the new captain. I certainly wouldn’t be giving the armband to Hall. Let him do what he’s good at without that responsibility. And worry about his level if we make it back to league one & he’s still under contract. Can’t wait to see him bring the ball down from 200 feet in the air & charging down the pitch. He was also decent for Harrogate in this division

True, I was secretly hoping for a grizzled old pro in the Darren Purse mould to kick some arse in the defence. Plus Colchester aren't exactly crying he's gone and had a poor season themselves. That said that could be for any number of reasons, maybe he just wasn't feeling it and genuinely feels more loved at Vale which will make him play better? Hall was excellent the 2nd half of the promotion season, one of the best bits of business we've done so if he can rediscover that it's a good signing

Lots of talk about being up there as one of the best January signings we’ve ever made or in recent years anyway. I have no doubt he’ll be absolutely fine for us this season. I don’t remember any defender standing out for us in league 1 they’ve all seemed to struggle in one way or another. I wouldn’t be shocked if we brought another central defender in yet. I still think we’ll have another 3-4 bodies in the door before the season kicks off myself. When I think of Darren Purse I just remember Oxford away & that back pass! 😂 I ended up over the meshing giving him a right mouthful, got escorted out. Chucked in a police van & ended up having to catch a train home about 8pm that evening 🤦‍♂️ Won’t be missing Oxford away this season that’s for sure it’s a terrible ground for us

Apart from last season vtid. At last though we've signed a player to replace Hall..

We are now pretty much where I think we’ll be numbers wise at the start of the season.  18 outfield players plus 5 ex youth team players, I think it will be 19. Maybe a couple will move on and be replaced.  More than that becomes hard to keep everyone involved. Some of the players signed haven't come cheaply, according to the Wigan press Amos was let go because he was one of their highest earners. Stockley,  Tolaj and Curtis will all be on very good money for league 2.

If someone had of said to me by July 2nd we have 7 new signings (2 strikers ) in I'd have thought you were bonkers .

I read a ladies comment on X last night if Hall signs ill be getting a season ticket he signed ,so thats another season ticket holder .

Harry Mckirdies a very talented footballer the fact Hall put him in his pocket 2nd leg and has that streak in him of competiveness and of being a centre half in a 3 who is positive and wants be a first line of attack ,well what's there not to like. .

Delighted to see Hall return, we never recovered from losing him and  never really replaced him, massive signing and if he gets back to his best then the defence should be much stronger.

Amos is a decent keeper and will provide good competition.

DM has said that he wants more signings though if possible
