Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Doesn't look like Alex Mighten to me, although granted, whoever it is does look similar.

I think unless anyone else goes out, which I do expect at least Jones or Ysk to depart since the Hall signing, I think we can argue that our line ups are complete (bar the odd loanee).

Only major headache is up front - in both of DM’s preferred formations there is only one striker, so that will be interesting.

Also, Amos is a high calibre GK even at his age now. Be interesting to see who lines up as our number 1 - Ripley is nowhere near as experienced and is only 2-3 years younger.

4-2-3-1: Amos/Ripley; Clarke, Smith, Hall, Hart; Ojo, Croasdale; Chislett, Garrity, Curtis; Stockley/Tolaj

3-4-3: Amos/Ripley; Debrah, Smith, Hall; Clarke, Garrity, Croasdale, Hart; Chislett, Stockley/Tolaj, Curtis.

With players on the bench like Plant and a few others, that’s looking really strong for L2 - I’d argue it’s almost a L1 side, although we’d more experience at the back for that. For L2 the defence is fine though!

You got me horny last week don’t do it again mate [emoji182]

Ben Amos ✍️ Sam Hart ✍️ Connor Hall ✍️ Ryan Croasdale ✍️ Ronan Curtis ✍️ Jayden Stockley ✍️ Lorent Tolaj ✍️ That’s a feisty lot of newbies that is. Some great experience too!

Happy Monday’s Valiants 👊🏻💙

Seems this season we have chased players and got them, amazing 🤷🤷🤷

Given the guy circled on the left is Buah, who is the guy circled on the right?

In the second photo it’s a close up of him.

Looks a bit like Mighten to me. Or could be a random trialist. It’s not Deklan Wynne I know that much 😆

That’s a decent shout to be fair. Made the bench back end of last season so wouldn’t be a suprise if he’s training with the first team, although he does look a lot older than Agnero in the bottom pic 🤔

He was superb mate no doubt. I’m  unconvinced that’s his normal level though. Nothing more than my gut feeling and watching Colchester play a couple of times at the end of last season.

Hopefully he’s as good as fans remember and wins another promotion with us.

To be fair he was good at Harrogate and when he first signed for Colchester.  By all accounts he struggled last year. Whether that was being captain,  a loss of form or maybe moving from a back 3 to a back 4 is the question. Colchester fans were happy to see him leave. I suspect we paid less for him than we received.  Maybe a sign we are more likely to play 343, as I think he is better in a back 3.

Teams coming together now .

Who's to say they are done there .

I don't think they are .

Need more pace at back go with Hall so I reckon 1 more centre half in .

In league 2 some of our better performances were when Brad Walker was spreading the balls about .

Connor Hall well didn't he leave in January 2022 well we have lost 25 home games I've read in 2 seasons I bet most were after he left .

It's good have him back most of our support didn't want him go last time and were proven right not wanting him to go as we back to league 2 again .

Squads getting stronger by the day that Amos is a very good keeper and most wouldn't bat a eyelid if he gets the nod play .

Good stuff Carol/Kevin  the best way to silence the doommongers, is to bring better players in l,ooking in from the outside I believe they couldn't have brought in better  , nothing  concrete though  come matchday the new lads have to do the business let's hope they do .

Squad depth:

GK

Ripley

Amos

RB

Clark

CB

Hall

Smith

Debrah

Iacovitti

Jones

LB

Hart

Grant

DM

Croasdale

Ojo

Sang

Lowe

AM

Garrity

Chislett

RW

Plant

LW

Curtis

Shorrock

ST

Tolaj

Stockley

Loft

Becomes clear that RB, RW, and maybe a CM are the biggest areas now.

The front 4 positions are quite fluid so you can go with multiple combinations featuring:

Garrity, Stockley, Tolaj, Curtis, Dipepa, Chislett, Plant, Shorrock, Loft (in my order of importance)

Chislett can play central & wide, Tolaj can play up-front and wide. I think Dipepa was used a bit out wide last year and can provide a threat on the wing in a front 3.

So that's 9 players for 4 positions (noting Garrity can drop back to CM if required). I think any more players in will result in players moved out maybe (unless he doesn't plan on using Shorrock and Plant as much - or possibly a loan in for more depth).

If Dipepa stays I think the experience around him will be great and ensure he can get runs in the team when he's on fire, and doesn't have to shoulder all the creative responsibility if his game time needs managing.

Some excellent business going on - now just desperate for it to gel and transition into great performances.

Don’t even think he’s 16 yet is he 😅

Like our business thus far , however we are a bit thin at right and left back , one injury to either Clarke or Hart  we are shoehorning sang, Grant or plant  there .
