How did you come to the conclusion that ‘he truly isn’t’ better than other commentators?

Because in my opinion (do you get that, my opinion???) I enjoy the away commentators far more than the Radio Stoke.

You are still avoiding the question on how you have come up with the majority agree with you?

Are you just not going to answer that question?

Have a day off pal.

In my opinion most fans would prefer to listen to Bowers than the away commentators. Is that better for you? Based off nothing but I think it would be true.

You are the one that keep's coming back for the argument.

You do not speak for the majority 🤣

Go back to bed because you are really struggling with that 1 hour less sleep

I said I’d stay away until the end of the season & I failed miserably 😂 after Flitcroft went & we’ve won both games along with 2 clean sheets i just couldn’t resist. What a unbelievable turnaround! No coincidence for me fantastic yesterday every single one of them. Pleased for the gaffer to get his first wins in charge. The great escape is more than on now 💪🏻 💙

We are endeared to Mr Bowers because he's Vale. Were I an away fan listening in I'd be bemused by the references to wrestling and marvel films and pure cheese. But Stevenage commentators were beyond awful and can't say as Cheltenham were anything other than Partridge-esque.

I'd say other than top notch ones like Guy Mowbray and Martin Tyler ( who both will annoy people too ) , that most local commentary isn't much good.

The Lard replacement for Red and White stockings Nigel Johnson is quite dreadful.

He keeps getting Walters and Dipepa mixed up. Some would say he’s racist. His commentary is shocking, just he’s biased towards the Vale makes him sound better to a Vale fan. Yes, there has been worse than him this season but that does not make him any good.

Who would say he’s racist?

I could think of worse commentators we could have for Vale myself . Yes bowers can sound rather silly at times but his passion & how he gets so giddy & excited makes up for that. I’ve never been his biggest fan but keep up the good work Phil 👍🏻

I have had the opportunity to meet Phil and talk to him now and again. I listen to away games on the radio or watch them on iFollow when I can.

He is not perfect. He is however better than quite a few at actually saying where the ball is - because people listening on the radio don't have that benefit. I've heard the Stoke City commentary and the guy doing that is awful compared to Phil.

The thing I would say is that he actually cares, I think a lot of the criticism is unwarranted because people like to nitpick. In much the same way our players are at this level for a reason, so is he, but I'd rather have him than some of the others I've heard this season, who have been bad at saying where the ball is and don't seem to care about the context of the game or a goal that goes in.

Maybe we should just be glad we've won a couple of games instead of finding someone, ANYONE to slag off, because we can't have Vale doing well without finding someone to criticise?

Maybe, they have the same haircut, same body type, both wear their socks round their ankles, both wore white/multicoloured boots, one is no.24, one is no.25, that he just had to call it in the heat of the moment and got the names wrong.

I don't think that's racist. I think you're trying to start a fire here to prove your own point and try and ruin someone's career, which is vindictive and sad.

I don’t think he’s being racist either. You are the one who’s made a point about his career.

Sad.

Not really Ray.

It works both ways.

I would say my piece face to face and hope I would get some debate back.

Problem being is that when I would meet that person and say what I think, they would crumble. And if they didn’t we’d be mates for life.

There is two kinds of keyboard warriors.

Most folk will find it far easier to express themselves on here than to some stranger sitting next to them in the stand.  That’s fact.

Amen to this. There should be no negativity whatsoever right now after back to back wins & clean sheets. UTV

There are some on here and they know who they are.

I think it’s a really cheap and unfair angle to attack him on. Phil Bowers can sometimes be a little frustrating but there’s no doubting where his heart lies and I welcome his partisan approach to covering Vale. After all, we need all the biased publicity we can get, let’s face it if Vale, Stoke & Crewe all play on a Saturday you can pretty much guarantee Stoke will get 85% of air the time on Praise & Grumble. We get no Sentinel coverage and rarely feature in the tabloids unless it concerns some tenuous Robbie Williams nonsense. Simon Humphrey’s sometimes does the Vale commentary for radio Stoke, he is a Vale fan but a little les emotionally charged. It’s local radio we’re never going to get a John Motson or Alan Green.
