Right decision, thanks to him for appointing DC and the promotion but a series of bad decisions since meant things just could not carry on. Had already cost Andy Crosby his job and was just no justification for him to remain in situ.

We’ll see what comes next but ultimately the reason we are in this mess falls on the Shanahans, vital they get this right now.

Sad state of affairs tbh and I'm gutted it hasn't worked for him as he's a human being and he tried, but if it ain't good enough it ain't good enough.
I believe he had the best interests of the club at heart but unfortunately was way off the mark with what was needed.
I wonder how much influence the gaffer had in all of this.

Absolutely massive credit to Bede, Mellor, Mark, Tony, Jean, NLV lads, and anyone I missed off.

They braved it and talked Carol into viewing things very differently. 

Got a load of undeserved stick from people who didn’t have a clue.

Once again, these lads and ladies sacrifice time and effort for PVFC. Raising a glass to them.

On a wider note - some decent transfer business in 21/22 in which he was carried by a truly excellent management team. Garrity and Hall were brilliant signings.

As soon as DC stopped working miracles, the club fell apart.

Which brings me to my next question...Do we really need a DOF? 

100% yes. If you want to keep up with modern football then you need the structure in place where the manager can manage and recruitment is dealt with by people who can throw all there energy into it. 

What you shouldn't do is give it to a chancer who talks a good game.

He survived up to 3 managers in 2 years and you could argue 3 windows I say 3 because the summer, although some quality was recruited I.e Ripley he failed to address key positions in his ideology of how he wanted Port Vale to play football that's the wingbacks and a solid Striker, I'm sorry but if we had fulfilled them positions I'm not saying we would be world beaters but we'd certainly be higher and we'd look a lot better if we kept Pett and he somehow perhaps persuaded a Hall to stay (granted i know that his issue was location, but money talks, and Vale are a poorer side without him.) Yes we do as running the football side has changed from JR era .

He obviously didn't mean to mess up the transfers on purpose, but was clear to say that too many avoidable mistakes were made and he had to go.

Shame, but correct decision.

Wonder if we'll look at another DoF or just scrap the position?

My three thoughts on this;

1. Im surprised he stayed this long before going back to his family business. I wonder if carol was the one convincing him to stay before it became impossible. 

2. We do need a DOF. But at least it gives them time to sort out a squad for league 2. 

3. Does this put pressure on Moore now?

VPL, I’m not sure,there’d have to be a discussion with DM. Perhaps he has his own person to fill the role. Some might say that they’d not want someone to have so much control. We’ll just have to wait and see.
