I remember seeing Mike and Bernie Winters outside the Lorne Street many years ago. Can't remember the year but we were playing Carlisle that day. I think they were appearing at one of the local theatres that weekend. This was at the hight of their popularity and they happily signed autographs for fans.

Someone was telling me that the worst Winters they knew were 1962/63. I said mine were Mike & Bernie.😀

Walking up Scotia Road to the Vale in the 70s a car pulled over and passenger Malcolm Allison asked if I knew where the ground was. I pointed to floodlights (the V shape days) but he was sceptical there were enough bulbs, so I got inside and directed them to Hamil Road.

Bumped into my hero in the early 80s when walking from the Hamil to the old Lorne Street. It was a night match and we were playing Scunthorpe but he hadn't made the squad.
