For those that are staying away , they have missed the best 3 home games of the season and some good entertaining football

Credit where it's due, today The vale showed a lot of fight and passion to get a point and the icing on the cake was there was plenty of attacking play and hardly any passing back #  that's more like it , UTV , KTF.

I thought so too just looking at the highlights - he really didn't look himself. What worried me was whether and how much that vile comment from the Carlisle fan has affected him. Ripley said at the time that their fan had no idea whether he was going through any sort of issues and their Chairman said Ripley was still angry and upset when he called him. These issues are really serious as anyone would know who has had any experience of depression or other issues.

Just hoping I am reading too much into it.

I think he was unwise to post online about it. Just complain privately to Carlisle Utd. If you put things online it will lengthen the whole experience for yourself by the public response that occurs. At the end of the day I thought he was significantly more affected by our defending. I can't believe Charlton only scored 3 against us with our gifting them chances for 2.

We did play forward today with constructive play. I was very pleased to see that. I guess, the dwelling on the ball leading to goals against is a rough edge on the wares that needs to be fettled before final glazing and firing.

You'll have to explain this one to me. Fans stay away = less revenue. Less revenue = less to spend on players. Poor squad = struggle or relegation.

Why aren't Cheltenham or Carlisle fans staying away? They've had worse starts and seasons so far than us. Could it be they support through thick and thin rather than looking for excuses not to go to games?

Carlisles first season back in league 1 and Cheltenham have been very good since DC went there. Nothing to do with supporting the club through thick and thin what a stupid statement. You know how much that fans of this club have been through over the years and have stuck by them. Not attending because of a manager isn’t turning your back on them. It’s making a statement to get someone to listen. Less revenue ect correct but then end game is that the owners listen.

Personally I don’t think attendance was too bad today. And will surely be higher next home match now that we seem to have dropped the passing around the back.

Nor on Leon. A back four with a L1 equivalent of Legge alongside Smith plus two decent full backs and we would be so much more solid, especially on the wide open spaces of Vale Park. The thing is though we've recruited for one sort of formation only and that is making our ability to change tactics and game organisation so much more difficult.

So now, we're that much more easy to read and we've been royally sussed by too many teams. The first time I saw DC manage was against Walsall at home when as the away manager, he changed things around to beat our system. That, I thought to myself at the time (and little did I know) is just what we need.

But now of course that is relegated to the impossible, with virtually one way of playing and a loss of flexibility that plays into the opposition's hands. Well, for better or worse, we're stuck with it.

4-4-2 might be the answer , Smith alongside a big CH , and two full backs who have pace - Dan Jones and Mitch Clarke when fit might fit the bill .

Just seen Crosbys post match interview. Think that’s the most pissed off he’s been since he’s been manager. I quite like it to be honest that he’s not happy with the defending. I’d just ask him don’t over-compensate by scaling back on the attacking mentality we showed today.

I liked it as well. I liked his booking today showed a different side to him

The ref possibly stopped us winning 4-3 today. The linesmen was failing on offsides all second half. I thought we were lucky not to concede because of him. Our own issues defending and giving the ball away made it 'exciting' second half!

They had pace. That always scares us.

Their defence was atrocious.

Charlton might be ex Premier and big budget but let's not that hide the fact they're amongst the weakest sides I've seen defensively in both games.

Definitely 2 points dropped. You play what's against you, not the name.

And Charlton are pretty crap aren't they.

Yep. Shame people completely ignore facts and think they're a good side simply based on them being a Premier League club around 15 years ago or more. They were rubbish and we had to come from behind three times at home just to get a point. As good as we looked at times in attack up against a shocking back line, I can't just ignore the dropped points, the comical defending, or the fact that Crosby picked a player clearly not fit and took over half an hour to sub him off. Some people can, good for them. Yes, we had some key players out. But so did they.

I'd like to see the side of him where he's not putting square pegs in round holes.

Worst linesman I’ve seen this season and that’s saying something. Ref I thought was doing ok until blowing up at the end, crazy decision to blow when we were through

They were seeded with a few very good players. But they are far from L1 promotion challengers like us.

They have a few good players the same as we do in Garrity, Wilson and Chislett. Most teams in the league have two or three good players. They are where they are because they're far from good and their away form has been woeful.
