Carlisle (A) match thread - 1st Jan

Featured Replies

To win games consistently you have to be ruthless, a quality we lack from top to bottom in the club. It's not just that we are mentally weak (which we are), we lack organisation across the pitch, players with the physicality to dominate their opponents and, most of all, the fundamental will to win at all costs. The Vale players looked half paced today while Carlisle, propping up the whole of L1 (until we came along) gave us the run around. There are ups and downs in football but today was just dismal against a team there for the taking.

So disappointing after Blackpool - but then one swallow doesn't make a summer.

Why bring on Balmer for Garrity surely just bring on Walters as a straight swap. Balmer makes a mistake every time he's on the pitch, and Smith's more interested in fouling and wrestling than playing football. Sitting back against bottom of the league Carlise.

Think Walters, (like Shorrock and Lomax)  would have been swallowed in that game.

There one thing the travelling Valiants didn’t deserve that kind of performance. Sometimes I don’t think the players or the club appreciate our travelling support.

That is why I want Crosby out. I said last game against Blackpool I was happy we won and Crosby will win me round if he can perform on a more consistent basis. Well that was <ovf censored> <ovf censored>. It’s the same every time. Perform well for one game and then atrocious for the next one.

Their goals were inevitable when we sat back. People say it’s ok he’s a young manager he’s learning, but he’s not. We’ve now done the same thing against Lincoln, Stevenage, Wigan (but got away with it) and now today. I am sick to death of it.

We are only 6 points off the drop. Crosby out now please.

I just despair ,How can a guy who couldn't manage the proverbial in a brewery and continues to enforce the same safety first tactics every game stay in a job ?

An is why I said earlier that it's mental to play the kids again in such a game. A Carlisle side devoid of quality were always going to battle hard and be physical. Our talented young lads looked like schoolboys today, but I'm surprised why anybody, including Crosby, would have expected any different. Another game where we gifted a poor side 3 points because of a poor team selection and terrible subs by the number 2 that's been given the reigns of managing a club way beyond his capability.

Just a lot of folk wheeling away over their own past opinions, OVF.

Win a game - the folks who like Crosby spend their night wheeling away saying how great and rational they are, and one lad quotes every single anti-Crosby post he can find and machine guns his way through them.

Lose a game - the folk who want Crosby gone spend their night wheeling away saying how great and rational they are.

Dunno. See you Saturday.

It’s getting closer though. Only 6 points clear now. Gap keeps reducing. Act now before it’s too late.

That defeat is on Crosby…again! The bloke is tactically inept. We lost Deb’s so can’t really do much with that but to then change Lowe for Balmer is mind blowing. We do it all the time swapping and changing defence and moving players round. And we constantly get the same result an error and goal. He doesn’t learn which is the big worry.

Also, make no mistake - they were a terrible side. You can see why they hadn’t won in 9. Enter the Port Vale benevolent society.

They simply wanted it more .

They totally wanted it more.  They were always in the refs face for any tackle on their players or even the refs decisions against them - trying to influence the ref to give them more decisions - it worked.  They looked like a team mid table against us which we looked bottom of the table team.

What did we do, okay ref, shirt ripped by Carlisle player and the players just walk off - nothing said to the ref.  Late tackles on Vale players and they walk off - nothing said.  We are just too nice and have no leaders or players willing to do what Carlisle players were doing and hound the ref.

It is not working with AC as manager, but we all know it wont change.

Blackpool win massive or we'd really be in the doggy doo.

Where's Plant disappeared to? And funso ?

Frustrating, Vale find it tough to see out a game.

Soft pen but Smithy shouldn't have made the challenge but he seemed to get the ball and their man went down like a sack of poop with very little contact. Awful defending for their 2nd goal.

Less said the better.

Both injured.

The annoying thing is it was almost expected/ anticipated.

Bit like Lincoln equaliser. Almost a sense of resignation once Carlisle had equalised.

A really damaging defeat .
