A key point that may be forgotten - despite the sour way in which he appears to have left, DC got enough points to keep us up this season (we're 4 clear of relegation).

2 years. Survival, promotion, survival. Transformed the club from facing non-league to surviving in League 1, and was booted without ceremony or thanks.

Some record, some manager. A Vale legend. I sincerely hope that sacking a serial promotion winner proves to be worth it, as I'm not seeing it right now.

Bristol Rovers legend Darrell Clarke dedicates Port Vale's play-off win to tragic daughter Ellie - Bristol Live

He's not coming back Joe, we need to move on.

This game was men against boys.

The most striking thing for me was how Plymouth showed up the ineptitude of the Vale's style of play which has been the same ever since Darrell Clarke came to the club

Pass pass pass across the back line or backwards to the keeper. Followed by a punt up front to nobody in particular.

It gives the opposition time to go for a kit kat. And a cup of tea.

It's incredibly boring and gets us nowhere.

Plymouth were a league ahead of us.vuv0u

How is it that other teams get loan players in who improve the side. Whereas we always manage to sign loans that are dross!!

It would be interesting to know how that average championship budget is distributed.  I suspect that it is very different between clubs at the top and those who's objective is survival.
About £5M to £25M was quoted Jan 23. Roughly spread with position, Coventry over achieving. Google search for wage bills for the various leagues will find the info.

Today's game was probably a microcosm of the season just finished.  Poor defending, no cutting edge up front and a poor goal difference. Without getting too demoralised, you can also add to that, inconsistencies in goalkeeping and all these factors clearly illustrates the big challenge this close-season is going to be for DF and whoeverhe appoints as manager!

So Carol said in her after game speech that Plymouth will be her inspiration for next season after watching them celebrate promotion on our pitch and she hoped to join them soon...... well Carol lets see if thats reflected in our summer recruitment and manager then

Plymouth should be an inspiration, look at where they were 10 years ago, they are a Vale sized club as well

quite simply, players no good enough, the table doesnt lie. unable to mark talented players, slow on pace, lack any idea of forward play. big job ahead for flitcroft and a.n.other😒

How many shots has Stone actually saved this season besides the "straight down the throat" shots? Anything slightly either side of him and it's almost certainly a goal.

Was watching the highlights of the Playoff Final to remind myself of better times and how Mansfield didn't score at least one is a miracle

It could have been a very different game. He gave them a gold plated chance early on in liaison with the defence and one other. I want a Brown level keeper brought in, but Stone is actually better than all the other keepers we have signed in the last 2 years including the Kung Fu kid, the Lamppost and worst of all Holy Stevens.

That's like arguing  which of the 7 dwarves is the tallest.
