Whilst been stuck on Synetics car park after the match for what seemed forever my Grandson asked " Who was the last player the Vale sold ? " I admit I struggled, I could think of quite a few I would give away but no one who was sold, Gareth Ainsworth was mentioned but we struggled.

Any ideas ?

Sure we sold a proper duffer at the end of the Bratt era can’t remember who it was though. Remember feeling surprised someone had paid money for them. Might have been in the Smurf times tho as well

Anyone have any idea of youth team players we've sold and where they are now? Think there have been at least a couple, one under sexman, one with the Shanahans and I find it quite interesting to see what happens to gifted young players. Was it Manchester City or Chelsea who knocked us out of the youth cup at the semi (or quarter) finals a few years back? Did any of those lads make it?

We were thinking more on the lines of someone who had gone for good money and to a higher division eg. Andy Jones or a Robbie Earle but they were so long ago, maybe as suggested Hugill.

Well if it is undisclosed who knows? Could be Rodders went for a billion.  I suspect not.  Big money, not sure Hughill was, think it was the sell on clause that banked us the cash. Lee Mills?

Didn't get so much for him did we? 4k or so. But the general point that it is a long time since we sold a player for big money is taken.

Alnwick must be one of the last we got decent money for.  Wasn’t his release fee something like £200k?  Beyond that you’d be looking at the likes of Akpo Sodje maybe, although there have been some undisclosed probable “lesser” fees as noted.
