He's been bang average at best this season and so at least somebody else will get a chance in the middle of the park.

I think that there is probably some middle ground between this and never pulling on the shirt again.  I'm thinking possibly a fine or something similar.

You mean because of a pro that's been playing the game for a lot of years now, gutlessly getting himself sent off for a needless challenge in the middle of the park in a game you were win 2-0?
