Saturday's protest

This was sent out by the Supporters Club last night.

"At the last supporters' club meeting fans asked the committee to organise a peaceful protest against the running of the club by owner.

We have seen none of the promised £400,000 investment, generated by the sale of Jordan Hugill, the Checkatrade cup run and TV revenue from the FA Cup match against Sunderland, in the in the team.

The last three years has seen Vale plunge down the football league and once again we stand on the precipice of relegation to non-league football. We are inviting fans to join in the following event on Saturday 16th February.

2.00pm - Gather at Burslem Town Hall

2.15pm - March to Vale Park to show our contempt for the way the club is being run and the lack of investment in the playing side, protesting until 2:45pm.

The red card protest that was planned for Saturday has been postponed, as a mark of respect following the sad passing of footballing legend, Gordon Banks. The supporters club would also like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of Gordon at this sad time, and ask fans to support the club's planned tribute to a great man.

The Supporters Club would also like to say that it is a personal preference as to whether people purchase items from the kiosks and club shop, and to respect those individuals who choose to."

Cheers. Personally I think the protest needs to carry a concise message that summarises either what we want to happen and/or what we will do if we don't get it. I think the gist of it should be the promise/threat of not renewing season tickets until he's gone.

Anyway I'll march in solidarity with the protesters.

There will obviously be those that disagree with even a peaceful protest. Hopefully however they will let those of us who want at the very least to show Smurthwaite the numbers and passion against his obvious pathetic running of our Club, to show our feelings in a controlled and civil manner. I respect each individuals right to their own opinion. I expect others to allow us to express ours.

I'm sorry but I don't understand not having the red cards as a mark of the respect to Gordon Banks? Seems odd that too me - don't know how red cards would disrespect one of the greatest if not greatest keep of all time.... and even more important an absolute gentleman.

Will be at the protest but will continue not to go to home games whilst Mr Smurthwaite is owner/chairman.

Micky Adams managed to bring success under more adverse circumstances than present. We should give the new manager 100% support to try to do the same. No protest can be effective in the present time of the season. It can only be divisive.

The protest will not in any way interfere with what goes on on the pitch. The manager and players will get full support.

Coffin March.

Vale won 7-2 against...... Morecambe.

Your worries are factually proven to be wrong.

Do you want a club? We are running out of time.

Im hoping the protests will be planned for every remaining home game, just to see if we can grow the numbers and then come the end of the season (last protest march) see hopefully at least 50% of attendance walking in protest...
Agree. By which time it's hoped that the Owner finally realises the depth of discontent against his running of our Club.

I just hope that we still have a football league club to support by the time the last game of the season protest comes around!
Dunner worry old, we'll be still here come what may. In some way or another the fan base will remain faithful to Vale long after the Owner has gone, whenever,( the sooner the better) that may be. We are Vale, not him.
