I see where Hugill has joined Pulis on a season's long loan from the Hammers.

Good luck to him. Was probably never good enough for the Prem but that sale has put the club in a very decent financial position and has funded the decent signings we've seen this summer.

 

Will be good fun seeing him in a Pulis system. Should work a treat.

Someone (clearly not Moyes) signed him for WHU. Moyes clearly doesn’t rate him so doesn’t play him. He now goes out on loan to a team in a league from whence he came. And the cost of this fiasco to the Hammers a cool reported £8M !

You have to pay the seller`s price, they pay by instalments, not a lot in Prem money. All players are gambles, they may have had to buy a "local" player for Prem squad purposes, no doubt a few more things. Luckily there was a sell-on clause.

But who is BUYING these players at these clubs ? Clearly no-one to do with the playing side of things.

Hold my hand up that when we sold him for 25k I thought it was a goods deal, thank God for the sell on clause. Equally when he signed for West Ham didn't see him as a Premier league player but I was proved wrong before. Believe he has found his ceiling in the Championship, no disgrace in that. Pullis and Hugill will be a good fit.

I would call them Purchasing Departments, scouts and analysts sifting though match videos, likely players watched by senior/chief scouts, director of football to match against playing style/vacancies and liason with current manager. Selected players passed to contract dept. As you say costs a bit, some of the player`s agents will get richer gravy.

So Chelski sell the best goalkeeper at the WC for ca 35m and spend 70m...ish on Spain's No 2 and Spain's No 1 wasn't that convincing in the tournament. Only in the Premier League.

 

Would have liked to have seen Hugill in the Prem. as he played very well vs Arsenal in the Cup and looked a very accomplished "leader of the line", whether he could score goals in the Prem would be the big question.
