Ricky Miller unable to play for Port Vale until FA hearing

Could it be that he didn’t turn up for a drugs test or something?..

How long did Rio Ferdinand get banned for doing that?.

But then again, if Aspin knew it was for that I’m sure he wouldn’t go near him.

So hopefully it’s nothung but for him to not be able take part in any games pre season suggests to me it’s more serious than what we think.

8 months for Rio.

He assaulted a police officer and was caught drink driving twice.

He was charged with assault and that charge was subsequently dropped. The statement above is potentially libleous and OVF may feel it should be removed.

In terms of the incidents referred to none fall within the jurisdiction of the FA so cannot be heard and judged at a FA hearing.

That’s what I was thinking. It must be something football related.

Looking at it from the worst possible angle.........to prevent him playing in friendlies may mean its an extremely serious problem. I can only think of 2 issues that fall under this kind of blanket ban from football.

But then on the other side of the coin it could be a simple registration technicality.

It is very odd. He doesn't seem to be the subject of an open charge (gone through the FA disciplinary pages). I'm not too sure on the actual legality of a player being suspended whilst not under a charge, if this is the case? Either way, I suspect it's quite a serious allegation if it's still pending from last season, although it does beg the question of just why he was allowed to play on loan at Mansfield in the second half of last season, unless it's something that happened in one of his final games?

I've looked through that FA website as well. The last document they published covers charges made during the month of May. Miller's last game for Mansfield was early April against Crewe, when he was said to have sustained a hamstring injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season. You would have thought that anything that he may have done during a match would have been included in the referee's report and processed by then.

Either this is something that was being kept separate from the usual FA disciplinary stuff (if so, perhaps the hamstring injury was 'convenient'), another possibility is that he was charged with something during June, which the FA haven't published yet.

Yet another possibility: has his registration even been processed yet? I may be wrong but he's the only player we've actually transferred this summer from another club - the rest have been out of contract and free agents. I wonder if there's some red tape holding it up rather than a disciplinary issue?
