"Even if you are right how much did Vale lose by making this offer, £10,000?"

Loggerheads Sage... Do you have any idea how much compensation - if any - we received for having to switch to Friday? I heard figures of £5,000/£10,000 mentioned. Obviously, nothing has been mentioned by the Club/Board (as far as I know) ... if money was received it might explain why the Board made the £5 offer.

If nothing has been mentioned by the club how did you get to know £5k £10k?

If money was received??????

Haha, I don't claim to know anything, but the childish argument is a classic and you had you stick it in somewhere.

If your not returning then why post on this website? Your like one of them people that sits on a bridge threatening to jump but never has any intention of jumping. If your not returning soon then I urge you to ignore this site, ignore the back of the sentinel, go get a life and come back when you want to.

I was at Vale park last night.

Beautiful, you are such a charmer...

Sorry to appear childish, but why do you post on here? You obviously find most posters to be, what was it, 'parasites', so what do you get out of it?

Time for you to climb back under your stone, methinks, keyboard king.

After talking this offer through with a mate I am in two minds if this deal was good or not. We would actually lose more money on the gate if we did it during a good spell (crunch some figures to see if you agree). But, if we did it during a good spell, we have more people in the ground, and might turn some of them into returning fans and long term income. So each timing has its own pros and cons.

But either way the fact remains we should not have to offer football for a fiver to get people into Vale. Yes we ask for an offer and reduced prices, but I'd rather we all paid £30 a game if it meant our club was run properly and the football on offer was worth it. And the fact that we got below 5,000 fans through the gate at £5 speaks volumes. Rather than the club now sit there and say 'Well the price isn't an issue, you won't even attend for a fiver!' They should talk to fans and say 'The price clearly isn't the issue here, there is obviously something else going on. Why won't you attend? And What can we do to address these issues?'

I'm not sure Paul.

The gate was 5200. Say 3700 season ticket holders, that leaves 1500 pay on the gate, inc away fans.

1500 x 5 = £7500

Without the offer i think there would be 700 pay on the gate.

500 x 20 = 10000

Not a great difference. Plus, if we got this compo from sky people are talking about i don't think we'll be too worse off.

The average pay on the gate take is nowhere near £20 though George. It's probably nearer about £14. So we may well have made a profit last night!

I never thought of that.

£5 every week then Jacko? Even as a season ticket holder I wouldn't mind.

So it would have been £14,000 without the offer using your figures. I agree with Jacko though, average pay on the gate is probably closer to £14-£16. So,

700 x £15 = £10,500.

As I said, I am beginning to think this deal was done at the right time, and yes that is a u-turn on my part. If we were on a good run we could expect crowds of 5500-6000. Which equals 2000 paying on the gate paying full price, so £30,000. If we reduced prices to a fiver, everyone agrees we will never get 10k fans, so lets say 8k turn up. 4300 pay on the gate = £21,500. So doing this offer during a good spell would have also lost us money on the gate, and a fair bigger wedge as well.

Maybe it could have been argued we would make more on the day through due to food and drink sales, but we have sold that off (or at least the vast majority of the percentage of takings). Also people can argue that we come make the money back long term when people return for the next full time game. But I think very few new fans would go from paying a fiver to paying £20.50, so any long term gain would be minimal.
