This thread was started by somebody who doesnt even go!! Why doesn't he applaud the 4900 that did go?

I was waiting for the first one to say that! Thought it might be you empty head!

I will have hit 20 games by the end of the year. Not bad for someone who lives roughly 800 miles away. Dont you think?

I did actually go the Friday game last month, and that was full price! ;)

Is it only me who thinks 5,168 on a freezing cold Friday night in November is a cracking attendance?

Who cares if it was only a fiver? Shrewsbury don't get much more on a Saturday and they're flying high.

I think you'll find that many Valiants will agree with you, but the subliminal concern for many of us is one of the £5 offer being ill-timed - that it would have been better pitched around Christmas / New Year after, fingers crossed, Micky and the Lads had arrested the recent slump in form.

Promotions of this sort will always be hit and miss for a range of 'relative' variables. On this occasion paying customer gate receipts would have been an own goal for the 'Board.

When people make comments reveling in what they see as poor attendances and compounding it by pointing to reduced entrance fees cutting gate income, what other conclusion can you draw?

Reflecting on the sad state of Vale?

Expressing dissapointment?

Being critical of the timing of the offer?

mo chaudrey...mark sims...locals etc etc.....would have added about 6-7 on the gate tonight,im holding the blame firmly at bratt and co's door.

6-7 in my household i must add.

Sting is worried; you must be struggling for living space :(

andyregs hit the nail on the head in another thread - the biggest problem aren't those protesting/actively doing anything about the situation, it's those who have just lost their passion for the club, and on a cold night would rather stay in than go to a game.

I remember the days when I literally counted down the days to the next home game, and was at pretty much every single one I could possibly get to, and the thrill was always there - but sadly has fizzled out a bit over the last 2 or 3 years.

And it's these fans that the board need to win back more importantly than anything.

I'm in that bracket now Burt.

There's so much that I could respond to on these forums about the situation but I've just lost all the fight now. I'd rather just quietly browse on here, listen to a match if I happen to be available to do so but not bothered if I can't. I attended the supporters' club meeting on Thursday and I'm just beginning to lose the will to live.

Just gonna quietly watch things unfold from the sidelines and get on with other things where Vale used to command a place in my life for now.

I'll be back when change has happened, whenever that may be, but I've lost the bug well and truly. Last nights attendance was poor at a fiver a pop, however people try to flower it up.

Still, Perry'll be banging his gums in the press hailing it as a success with some meaningless percentage and we'll all blindly be geed up. Hoorah.

I really enjoyed last night's game. Simple as.

Its like a broken record from the usual OVF moaners: "its too cold, we dont score enough goals, the board are a bunch of ******s, etc".

If you have lost the bug, fair enough, dont bother going anymore but dont come on here bleating about it, find something else to do with your Friday nights or Saturday afternoons. You only live once!

Of course they are motivated by price. It was a friday night game for gods sake. If it was a Saturday the attendance would have been at least 8,000.

This area is a low paid area, and the difference between £20 and £5 is very significant.

People are tired and finish work, it's a weekday, and going a night game takes a lot of effort.

What twoddle i and many wouldnt have gone if it was free.its not about money or time of fixture more a case of we have had enough of the rubbish on offer caused by woeful stewardship.

You would expect to pay £25 to watch a Premiership match. That is a difference of 18% in price between top division and bottom!

The recession hits people differently, people have different circumstances, and incomes. £20 is a lot to pay for this standard of football- whichever way you wish to dress it up.

I would pay £25 to watch Vale in the premiership, but Vale aren't in the premiership, are they?

You have just backed my point up so I don't know what you're getting at?

But it would be difficult to argue that last night was rubbish and not entertaining.

But I suppose as you didnt go you wouldnt know.
