Vale fans fascination with a market

I actually sat shaking my head when reading the live blog last night.

Flags and Markets.

Especially the flags situation. The clubs facing the most critical time in its history and someone has flags on their agenda.

It beggars belief.

same everytime a chance to get questions aimed at anyone from the club. Standard when fans ask smurf question in a few weeks some weapon asks about finishing the stand, toilets in paddock and the frigging market.

Why don’t some of you lot set up an AltSC so you can get together and sort out all the club’s problems instead of sitting on your backsides in your armchairs? Just a thought.

Or the existing supporters club could do something to attract younger fans to it....

The market had its day.The world was a different place then, many years before internet shopping and the huge influx of cheap big stores. Anyone who thinks having a market on our land will bring Vale a huge financial bonus is deluded.

Chris Turner is right to research it. I think his research will reveal there is no demand, little customer base and no income to make the work worthwhile. It is high risk low reward. There a few Vale fans with memories of us being shafted in the past by the council. Those fans seem to be intent on a glorious renaissance by getting one back. The difference is over 30 years have passed and the world is a very different place. Move on

I agree with all of that. I just get annoyed at folk having a go at the SC when they do nothing positive themselves.

Agree, dead as a Dodo.

Years ago Mrs AR and me sought out market stalls far and wide in fair weather and fowl - arts and crafts for Ann; old postcards for me.

Not anymore. Cyber world shopping via PayPal in the comfort of our home is the way now which, more importantly, increases leisure time for other things

The market is now dead because of all the second hand shops that have opened in Stoke On Trent.

Before I moved away I emptied my attic of all the old clothes that grew out of fashion from the 80s and 90s.Then the other week I popped into The Crown and loads young wannabes were wearing my lacoste polo shirts and pringle roll necks even the lad pulling pints had my Sambas on his feet.
