Brexit again...

The Brexit chaos is getting deadly serious now. This is another example of the disaster we're heading for like lemmings over the cliff.

Also, recently the issue of service exports was raised. Our economy is 80% service based and we export £90bn worth of services to the EU, more than the next 8 largest markets put together. These exports are also at risk dependent on the outcome of Brexit.

The whole thing is economic suicide, it's madness!

I wonder what percentage of leave voters even considered these issues or understood the likely consequences when they voted to come out of the EU?

If our politicians were acting in anything like the national interest they'd stop Brexit and, in the interests of true democracy, they'd organise a second referendum with some proper criteria explaining what options are available and what they mean, along with a sensible proportion to carry any motion like we had when we joined.

I've asked several times for leavers to explain, with supporting evidence, how Brexit can be a success and there's been nothing forthcoming. That's because there isn't any evidence for a successful Brexit!

This is nuts and will seriously affect our standard of living.

Look mate, the vote has been made and we're leaving. Theres nothing you or me can do about it now. Accept it and try to chill. You seem to be working yourself up into a frenzy. By worrying yourself and continually posting the same topic won't do you any good. The sun's shining, go out and have some fun, and chill.

The leemings over the cliff plan, fair enough if you are happy. Please realise that it does not suit everyone.

There is the possibility that things will get worse.... there is also the possibility that things could be the same or even get better... I am not an sure which and like everyone else I will have to wait and see

Yeah Geo and I've made that point also but why take such a flippin' risk, it's madness. It's so easy to destroy but much, much more difficult to create.

You were probably in the same situation as me in that you have lived outside the UK for longer than 15 years so weren't allowed to vote yet I am British by birth, hold a UK passport and may return at some time although admittedly unlikely.

The ex-pats I know in the USA all would have voted to remain because they all see the economic benefits that being part of a large country and by analogy a large trading block brings.

I don't disagree mate .... but... and it's a big one... the majority decided to leave.... and democracy being what it is we have to respect it... and keep on respecting it even though we may not agree with the way we think it may go.

I didn't agree with joining.... I didn't like the way the union was becoming a state although I could see the benefits of a common market... but when the people have spoken it's a dangerous precedent to ignore it.

I agree on the Brexit referendum, it has to go forward now but there are many times when the will of the people is not followed/mirrored by Parliament/government.

If it does go t*ts up and the view is to rejoin, that scenario would be one of embarrassment, even humiliation, even carnage, it doesn't bear thinking about but I guess the UK tried and Farage and Boris will be long gone.
