Charlie Raglan Signs on Loan from Oxford

The reality is we are bringing back a player who is another Smurf freebie on loan who has barely played any football all year and could never get a single first team appearance 5 years ago....

Chesterfield and Oxford are mediocre clubs, yet the best we can manage are their unwanted players or those in need of fitness.

To make things worse we have other players who could do the role already on our books so once the guy leaves like many other loans they leave us again with an inexperienced team with no players..

Sounds like a good signing for me too.

Just a minor point - think that means we have five loan players now which is the maximum allowed in a matchday squad so unless we "do a Michael Brown" and have more loan players than we can include, I think that is it for loan moves. I guess if a second defender comes it would need to be a transfer or a free agent move.

So since he was released, as a kid, hes not improved in that time? His league appearance record suggests he probably has.

This sums up the attitude of more of our fans I think. Some seem to think we're better than we are and you read some of the comments on here and social media about players and performances and some people seem to be expecting premier league quality week in week out. On a matchday a player makes a bad pass or goes backwards to keep it and is slaughtered by the crowd, at times we are terrible as fans. We're near the bottom of league 2. What are people expecting? Oxford fans are p*ssed off that they are loaning their players to us because we are a lower league club thats been on a downward spiral for nearly 2 years.

Does any of that matter if he is a decent player? I think not.

Different player but the question still stands as people (probably you) said the same when he came...

Had Jules have stayed with Reading rather than searching for first team football at Shrews, and we'd have signed him from them instead - would you question the signing?

Where a player comes from doesn't matter one jot. Sodje came from Darlington and was brilliant. Stobbs came from Wednesday and looked poor when he got game time.

Who cares where players come from?! We're 18th in L2, that's the reality of the situation unfortunately.

he is not a like for like replacement for either of the departing defenders though (nmentioning no names) He may have more league appearances than Jules but will take some time to reach match fitness after such a long injury lay off.

Why is he not like for like with Anderson?
