The only credit I will give Michael Brown is for getting sacked to allow Aspin and Rudge in.I actually think we had some decent players under Bruno who started the season well only having a few weeks to build a side.

The first few weeks the team played well but soon got found out and teams stopped us playing the ball out from the back and passing the ball in midfield.When Brown took over he started by hoofing the ball up to Pope who was on his own.I really think players like Tavarez,Kiko and Amoros would have flourished under a decent manager but were made scapegoats by Browns poor tactics and man management.He got rid of the flair players and replaced them with worse players.Brown is the worst Manager in living history proved by his win ratio worse than Gannon,Sinnott and Glover who were abysmal.

Andy, I said MB signed some good Lge 2 players and mentioned Tonge and Barnet in a list who've played a part in Vale's revival. Vale can always sign better players in theory but there's much that goes on in this transfer malarky that we fans don't know about.

 

I gave MB credit for having a plan and signing some good Lge 2 players, nothing more and nothing less.

very good prospect is Denton, a young lad who moved to another area into originally a team in chaos and dis-organised and then played in an alien postion in which he did really well especially under the massive pressure for team points.

 

He will settle and improve and his experience will add to the player he will become as he goes back more knowledgeable and wiser about the professional game I wish him well and can see him competing in the championship one day.

That's quite a bold prediction (Not saying it won't happen), but Denton will flourish in another system I'm sure. Aspin, when he came in wanted to make that back four as solid as possible. Denton's defensive awareness is not a strength for him right now, it's something he needs to work on. I would assume that is why he hasn't been playing. He's not good enough defensively to make the team, and it would have been a kick in the teeth when Pugh was preferred at left-back.

 

In a team that wants their full-backs to push on, and worry 10% less about the defensive side of the game, he will do well. Right player, wrong time for me. Aspin has done the right thing making us hard to beat at the back and Denton doesn't fit that mould. I think once Aspin is happier with his back four we could allow more attacking play from the full-backs. Gibbons has that in his locker, but also looks better defensively.

Denton was due to stay until end of season, but went back to Leeds for personal family reasons.

Agree, he should have done what Aspin did and managed in the non-league for a few years. Get the grounding there and then come into the league. He was given a poisoned chalice at Vale Park.

 

Think the same would have happened to Aspin if he had gone straight into league management.
