Tom will have matches where he is not great as well, but I think he is going to get 12-15 goals this season (or more) and be a key part of Vale moving up the table.

No. We need a proven 20 goal a Season, every Season striker not someone who has only ever done it once.

Said when we signed him back it would be a mistake and fans would expect him to bang them in every game.

People keep going on about us needing a 20 goal a season striker, but it's not that simple - anyone banging in 20 goals a season year in, year out will either be picked up by a bigger club or will be on a fair whack at their current club and not wanting to leave. You don't see many regular 20 goal scorers available.

 

I think Tom is a fine fit for us this season and will push towards getting 20 goals given enough service.

Not sure he deserves another thread as he’s one of a number of unfit poor players but it’s a definite no from me at the moment. At best he’s a 20 minute impact sub.

 

So to sum up, in your opinion Pope shouldn't start, only come of as an impact sub for 20 mins, doesn't score enough, is responsible for goals Vale concede (which is a load of rubbish), doesn't get around the pitch enough, can't jump high enough, regularly beaten in the air, isn't fast enough, isn't fit and can't run.

I couldn't possibly comment on your observations about REP, but regarding Tom - not only is it 4 in 13, but they are recent - he has the momentum on his side, and is likely to score more in the next 13 games.

In the earlier part of the season he diudn't get the service and his confidence was less - maybe even partly due to those on here who try to convince us he isn't up to it - we know better.
