a bit of nostalgia gets the blood pumping, out of aspo and glover you would have though glover was the more prospective tactical/thinking manager yet aspo has so far stayed in the game on the management side. Just hope of all hope if he is appointed he gets backing in January and the results mirror the honeymoon ferver created- its going to be a really tough job but i'm sure he would get amongst the players and get them doing the jobs he wanted em to do--

To be honest, if I were him, and being completely and honestly unbiased I would not swap something that is reliable, appreciated, respected, and progressing nicely for the looney bin that is Smurfland.

I love Port Vale and it hurts to say that - but anyone coming here without a good job I can understand, anyone coming here from a secure environment is taking the risk of a lifetime and only needs to look at what has happened to the last 3 managers and all the other grief and heartache, despair and division amongst the fans and general decline that this owner has overseen.

Yes, he might be successful, but even just moderate success of mid-table which would be welcome to most would still have some of the headbangers at his throat within 6 months calling for him to go. Thee would even be some on here who would be at him from day one - I guarantee it.

And God help him if he doesn't select the players one or two of our oracles want, or sets up defensively in the odd away game - even if he gets the club back to the tophalf of League One, it would not be enough for a few on here. Trouble is, one of that few might be his owner - ask Rob Page.

A no-brainer unless he is offered a massive pay rise and long contract and cast iron gurantees of a big budget and no interference - and of those 4 things, I doubt if he will get a single one.

Whilst looking at the odds for the various manager vacancies I noticed that the favourite for the Oldham job is Clarence Seedorf - a slightly more high-profile foreign manager than Bruno Ribeiro!

Also, Cotterill is 1/4 hot favourite for the Birmingham job. I said he was my choice for Vale but it was only ever fantasy stuff as I knew that he was (literally) out of our league.
