Dump doesn't begin to describe the site...everything's falling apart. You'd think they'd get some work done on them if they are expecting people to come and see them. Ditto Stonehenge where a lot of it has fallen into disrepair too.

There was some talk about putting an additional toilet at the Pyramids.One Sheet Sally with have to bring a mate.Filthy place.

Leco (Italy) is nice and Como is fabulous. From the high mountain beside the lake it possible to see some of the Swiss houses.

 

Graana in Sweden has a very large lake and beautiful countryside,but food and drink is very expensive.

 

Anybody who likes lakes (reserviors), scenery, picnics and walks has no need to travel far. The area around Macclesfield forest is ideal for a good day's outing.

People don't go to the pyramids for 5-star facilities, nor even to Stonehenge.

 

Maybe some people should only go on cruises up and down the Avon gorge or along the south coast and stay in their cabins except for the excellent bingo games and spotlessly clean snawiches and cream tea.

 

Someone from the cruise company will come out and give a 145-minute talk on the history of bingo, and the men will all wear ties and Greenwoods jumpers, read the Daily Mail but not maage to finish the crossword and their wives have pink or purple permed hair and talk like Mrs Slocombe.

I used to travel through Whitehaven quite regularly on the way from Workington down to Barrow. It was always interesting when you approached Calder Hall/Windscale/Seascale, it's name at that time dependant on how many radiation "incidents" there had been recently. You knew you were close when you noticed two headed toads and rats the size of small cats by the roadside. Not that Nuclear Power Stations are in any way dangerous of course.

I prefer the 5 star service on the Nile Cruise from Luxor.Cairo is a 5hithole.

Never managed to go on a Nile cruise yet Howjy,we had one booked up a few years ago along with a week in Hurghada but it was cancelled due to the troubles.

 

Visits to the Valley of the Kings,the Luxor museum,Aswan dam,Karnak temple were just a few of the stops.Glad I went,just before the troubles over there.

We also went to the Cairo museum,Tut's burial mask was in one piece then.:wink:

Agreed..must be something with colosseum builders cos they haven't finished the one in Arles either...completely unusable. I'll bet they went onto the next job before finishing it.

And what about the bridge at Avignon? Doesn't go anywhere..I mean what's the point of a bridge over a river that ends after about 50 yards so is over 100 yards short!?!?!?! They aren't dancing on it they are protesting at it not being finished.

Worst I've visited was that bl00dy castle at Mow Cop......no roof, half the walls have collapsed and they expect you to walk up that hill to see it!?!?!?! Get that builder chap in..Tommy Walsh..he'd sort it.

I come from Mow Cop and it's been like

that since I was a lad. Probably some problem with those NIMBY's or Green Belt people. Went on holiday last year to Yorkshire and same with Fountains Abbey. Although someone did tell me it was to do with the economic downturn or Brexit or something. Either way, it needs sorting.

Also with that bridge place, why go to the bother of putting arches in it when the boats could simply go around the side of it ? No doubt that money came out of the E.U. purse. I'm personally glad we're out of that Euro thing. If that is what I don't pay my taxes for, I for one say good riddance to De Gaulle and Plastic Bertrand and Jeurs Sans Frontiers and that German 80's bird with the hairy armpits. 99 bloody red balloons my a**e.
