Scotland couldn't be further removed in terms of comparison. What I saw when I visited last week was a substantially wealthy rural country. After Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee, the townships are 10-30k places. It could survive independently if the population wants that.

It's a case of the end justifies the means. Such regimes are so convinced they are right in what they are aiming for that whatever it takes to get there is justified in their minds...if there are a few 1000(million) casualties along the way then they are just collateral damage.

To be honest now, we are all British and commited to leaving the EU, there are no brexiters or remainers we are or should be one, getting the best, fairest deal we can... instead both sides are sniping at each other, trying to score points off of each other.

It is interesting that JC (and others) seem very quiet on events in Venezuala. Regardless of who is behind the economic turmoil there, people are being locked up because of their political views, elections seem to have been rigged and so on. Having gone out of their way to praise Venezula in the past certain individuals should IMO continue to comment when things are not so good there.

 

Emily Thornberry to her credit has spoken out and indeed the party has spoken out in condemnation of events there but the silence of certain individuals is deafening
