London Bridge incident

Well said Steve and I've said similar on OVF in the past.

The rational for this type of approach comes from one of the slayers of Lee Rgby who said, "I'm not bothered what they do to me but I am concerned for my family". Hence UK legislation should be enabled that would allow the deportion of the families and extended families of those found plotting or involved in carrying out a terror attack back to their country of origin.

Such legislation wouldn't prevent all attacks but would be a significant deterrent and would incentivize muslims to take responsibility for their families as currently no real deterrent exists, without a sea change in attitude in the UK the situation will only get worse and more horrific.

The muslim communities have to step up and play the most significasnt role in preventing these sickening attacks. Families of law abiding muslims would have nothing to fear.

That makes sense. There has to be a way of making Muslim families more alert to radicalisation amongst their number and taking some responsibility for trying to prevent it. That's a possible solution to reduce the problem.

A friend of mine who I worked with in a traditionally Muslim country posted this on social media today, it resonates;

Who decided to label terrorism as being in the name of Islam - ISIS did. Why don't we change the language? Why not refer to them as just physopaths? Murders, lunatics or anything rather than categorising these people by their religion. I just think every time you refer to these people by there religion you are helping these people legitimise in their minds what they are doing.

I URGE YOU ALL TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE AND GIVE THESE PEOPLE A NAME MORE BEFITTING TO THE SCUM THEY ARE AND NOT ALLOWING THEM TO DO IT IN THE NAME OF ISLAM (because it's not).

Wouldn't that be a bit like saying that the holocaust was done by psychopaths and not in the name of National Socialism ?

No one can deny that these people who did the attacks DID say it is in the name of Islam, and we have heard how the girl stabbed multiple times was told 'This is for Allah'.

Really, the only people to be able to do this are those of Islamic faith, and if they appear in huge numbers, hundreds of thousands, on the streets denouncing the killers then it will carry some weight.

Some individual Muslims have done this, some have condemned, but not nearly enough and I'd also like to see collections for the victims held in mosques and publicised.

There is also a sizable majority of Muslims who are totally appalled by these acts - but they need to be seen and heard to say so, and quickly.

They also need to point out where these acts are at odds with the Koran, and the Imams and other spititual leaders to openly say that these murderers will NOT go to paradise/heaven.

If this is done, it disarms the extreme right-wing element that are hoping for a backlash and is a worthwhile and removes a voice from the racists and bigots.

But denying that they are saying it is in the name of Islam is plain stupid.

As much as I genuinely dislike you and think that practically everything you post marks you out as a complete and utter winker, it's hard to disagree with what your "friend" (citation needed) has written there.

It is only radical followers of Islam who commit murder in the name of God in the western world, it's about time all followers of Islam woke up to this fact and did something about it rather than deny it or blame it on something else.

Trident is proving a useful deterrent against these attacks isn't it ?

Few or no attacks in countries like Portugal, Italy, Greece, and most of the other countries without an outdated nuclear system, despite them being members of NATO.

And with a **** social system that doesn't give free housing and health care to immigrants.

The difficulty is picking out the potential psychopaths from the radical followers, but it has to be done. I will leave it to the experts as how it is done. As yesterday the weapons are readily available, but it is the minds that control their use, and as controls increase so they are more likely to keep their thinking hidden. So we need to keep one step ahead.

Much, much more should be done by muslim communities, informing the authorities about potential radicals, returners from the middle east and imams preaching hate in mosques and schools etc. One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Shame that certain people want to turn this incident in to their political gain.

Yes, I agree that UKIP being the only party to continue campaigning today was shameful Phil.

But then I expect Paul Nuttall will be claiming he knew some of the victims in London or Manchester soon.

Returners should be known already, part of the Home Office function for the last 6 years.
