Was it the Gold Cup in hanley that used to sell Bass from the wood?

 

Don't know mate, didn't sup in Hanley. I frequented the Marquis of Granby in Penkhull sometimes where they kept a brilliant pint of Pedigree, that in my youth used to blow my socks off! Bass in a straight glass was a favourite saying of us Valiants in the Park Inn, Boslem prior to the match.

Can we return to the 'snot-on-toast' stuff please, I loved that - much more amusing and creative. If there were a Turner prize for one-line put-downs I would nominate it.

 

I got the chance to us that last week on holiday, most enjoyable and will be forever grateful for the chance of adding it to my 'road-rage' readies.

 

A little off topic but... - as for the drink a decent Remy Martin brandy is always welcome, the worst drink (and one that rots your liver faster than a petrol/glue cocktail) is Pernod - truly vile.

The Park was a favourite in the 60s, couldn't get in against Liverpool though. good second to Worthington E in the days when it came out of a wooden barrel.
