Record-low season ticket sales at this point?

I can't renew two season tickets because both of us have logistical problems getting to Vale games. There is a natural wastage of supporters and a need to attract new support. Port Vale has an inherent problem attracting new support as it is with Premier League football nearby at the same price and the access to top level football from around the world on TV.

But at the moment there is a vicious circle. Smurf is discredited as the owner, never mind how hard he tried or how much money he stands to lose personally. Fans want a new owner that can offer hope. The club is not attracting anywhere near the season ticket sales needed for a viable budget. Therefore the fans risk losing their money if they buy a season ticket and the club becomes insolvent and must stop trading. Existing employees, including players, must want more security by finding another employer. New employees, including in particular players, can't be attracted.

This looks like a death spiral to me that could end with the club crashing out of the league and being relegated right down the hierarchy. I can say I had tremendous admiration for Aldershot and its fans at Tranmere on Saturday in the National League play off game. They climbed back from that circumstance. But surely everyone include Smurf wants to avoid that and so a realistic negotiated sale is urgently needed to enthusiastic new owners with as viable business plan as it is possible to have with this type of club.

I've already stated that Streete was made two contract offers' date=' one around the time Smith signed his. The lad wants to play at a higher level. He was desperately unhappy the way he was treated in the 2016/17 season so clearly doesn't need to have any loyalty to Vale.[/quote']

I can see why he was happy in 2015/16 when Page kept playing inferior players at centre half instead of him. But in 2016/17 he played most games. I can accept he wants to play at a higher level and earn as much money as possible and his departing statement should be respected as his departing viewpoint.

We all know the CEO didn't this close season.

So are you really saying that an official contract offer was made to Streete prior to this close season despite that CEO saying that no offer had been made and people close to the player telling me the same?

Tell me what the offer was then, did it match his current salary, how long was it for, what was his agent's reponse? You seem to have all the facts at your finger tips so I'd be interested to know.

You may indeed' date=' doesn't make what I've been told wrong.[/quote']

Let me get this right - the statement you presented as fact, he has been made a contract offer on two occasions - is in fact nothing more than something that you had been told! Which means that you know as much as I do and certainly a lot less than the CEO who categorically said that no such offer had been made.

Mmmmmm
