No thanks but Billy Paynter was a great player for us and was given much undue stick when he was here when playing on the wing. Scored some important and cracking goals when fairly young. Came back and supported some of the charity games and was genuinely please to be back here playing. A nice lad and I liked him.

That Hartlepool performance against a top side in their division especially second half was the passion I expected from Vale last weekend. Instead we decided to defend for 75 minutes.

Yes, Devanti Rodney, ex Man Utd youth player, scored twice today on his debut and would have saved Hartlepool from relegation to non-league if Newport hadn't have won. Looked a great prospect. No doubt he'd prefer to play for a L2 team, even the Vale, now Hartlepool have gone down.

I had cancer almost 15 years ago and had major surgery and radiotherapy. My pupils in Bootle new I was a Vale fan and saw Billy Paynter as he's from Bootle. He went into the Vale and got all the team and management to sign a shirt for me and the pupils got it framed and it was given to me in hospital at a very bad time. My pupils were great and so was Billy. They lifted my spirits.

He's at the end of his football career so won't be coming to us but a good bloke.

Totally agree. Don't like the 'ha ha' at all. He was an excellent player for us and is the sort of model professional you'd welcome at the Vale any time. Shame his career is presumably ending on such a low note.

Very harsh..

I thought we played last week perfectly against a good Fleetwood side and so nearly nicked it twice in last 10 minutes.

The haha not directed towards paynter himself I thought he left Vale to early but that's the way it goes like you say model professional 10 goals in the bag if we had him in our squad next season
