I admire your passion but to blame NS should we go under and then in the same breath blame the PL?

 

For me it's not been about how much money but how it's been spent; it's not been spent wisely and for that NS has to take responsibility..and he does not seem to learn. I genuinely believe that had an experienced manager/CEO (to manage the non-football aspects of the club) been brought in things would have been very different and that also would have provided better support to the football manager/coach.

 

We'l never know but it's what should happen once we get this season out of the way if NS stays as owner

We know that is what should happen but we also know that it won't happen.

 

There is only one thing worse than a bloke who knows nothing and that is one who thinks that he does and Smurthwaite is definitely one of the latter.

I'm one that got sucked into the Smurf "new era". Fell for it hook line and sinker especially after the first few games. Now I'm having to drag myself to the games and really wouldn't be going if no ticket. Been going for over 40 years and have never felt so despondent with my club. Will not be renewing under the present dictatorship.

 

I think this post sums up the feeling if the majority me included.

I was one of the few who soon realised after his 'Papa Smurf' fancy dress stunt at Wycombe when we all laughed that the comic was in reality a very destructive figure. His arrogant, Brash manner was very off putting but I could live with that no problem but he has slowly and methodically dismantled a good close knit football club. What we now have is a bunch of strangers who in the main are a very poor calibre of player. I'm sorry to say it but all our owner thinks about is how to make a fast buck and he is now finding that this is nigh on impossible at our level. Ownership of a L1 club needs to be kept to a wealthy few who have a large amount of financial backing and are prepared to spend knowing that there is very little likelihood of getting that money back.

Our owner says Port Vale is debt free but that is yet another example of his long string of lies because we may not owe Nat West or Barclays but Smurthwaite is determined that if he sells he wants all his money going back to the Bank of Smurthwaite. I've got news for you Mr Smurthwaite if that is the case you will never sell the club.

 

For the club to move forward we need to be rebranded under new ownership who the fans that are still out there will buy into. The owner has fed us too many lies, disgraceful decisions and deceitful actions.

 

the only words I want to hear from the present owner is 'I quit and will sell the club and the ground for a realistic valuation'. Otherwise keep it shut because the majority of us aren't listening.

 

Valiant 2001 were a bunch of crooks but Smurthwaite has actually in my opinion inflicted more lasting damage by splitting the club from the ground during his short tenure.

You seem to know Norman better than most on OVF. Where do you think he goes from here?

 

There's going to be a huge rebuilding job to be done during the summer, but from what I hear, he has lost a lot of integrity and burnt a lot of bridges within the game. Can he fight his way back from this? Does he have the stomach to do so?

Old Sage has not criticised Smurf for what he did at Wycombe, he simply said we all laughed at the stunt, which we did. There is nothing bitter and twisted about his comments. Who was the young lad by the way, I didn't see anything about it in the Sentinel?

Smurf has emailed me and ask me to post the following

Around the time RP left Vale the Sent posted on its Facebook page a story or events which was a complete lie

This resulted in myself contacting the CEO of parent paper/group to make a complaint

On day RP signed for Northants Martin T contacted me about my complaint

He was not aware it was false and stated he would remove the article and investigate its origins

I stated that unless it was removed and an appriopiate apology was issued they would be banned

To date not been actioned

They recently made their photograper redundant and tried to get Gerard our 1st Class photographer to do their work to save money

Having discussed this with Gerard it was agreed that he would no longer do any work for the Sent

They can pay for as many staff to enter as they require and due to normally most of their coverage is as copy and paste do not feel the average reader would know any different but at least at last they are contributing something to the Club

Maybe you are not Smurf. But just in case you are, or know him well enough to pass on this message... just know this.

 

Port Vale has been in my family for 5 generations. I don't blame you for trying, I admire your guts for having a go.

 

But your approach and lack of ability to stand up and say "I don't know what I'm doing" has ruined this club. Your decision making is not good. You have failed to make the correct decision at some crucial times. Your ego has made you turn against us rather than embrace us. You might own the papers that have the words 'Port Vale' written in them. But the club is ours.

 

If we have to start again we will. You cannot end us. Close the club, liquidate the assets. Try and get your money back. See what we do. Be in 10 leagues into the non league pyramid if we have to, the fans of this club, my club, our club won't let you take it down!

 

And if that's puts fire in the belly to prove me wrong then good. But get help from someone who knows what they are doing. Because you sir have proven yourself incapable of doing the job you arrogantly said would be easier than running stoke Audi.

I'm not sad and twisted old fool at all. I had no problem with the Papa Smurf fancy dress in fact I have photos that I took of him myself but I used the analogy that very soon the laughter turned to fears for the way the club has been run for the last few years with a steady decline which most on here worry could be a one way trip out of the football league.

So come on then you tell us what the man has achieved that is positive for us since. He frighteningly has split the club from it's ground and now we seem not to be able to compete with even most L2 clubs to recruit decent players anymore.
