New Manager is...

Recommended Posts

Our wonderful owner will only ever bring in someone who will work for a minimal wage which completely rules out a proven manager.

Think about it even if the Smurfet did offer a decent wage which half decent boss would work with the ridiculous constraints which he would put upon him.

Which restraints are these? Do you work at the club, or just making stuff up?

Is Steve Cotterill really worth bringing in his recent record is shocking Notts County, Forest, Portsmouth and Burnley were horrednous and really the Bristol City side he got promoted with was already a very good team before he did anything. I think hes like Adams in that hes now a bit of a dinosaur in terms of approach and tactical prowess and a bit out of touch with the modern game

I completely disagree with you.

He won 14 out of 18 games at Notts County before moving to Portsmouth.

While he was at Portsmouth the club was in turmoil financially but he still did enough to earn that move to Notts Forest. Again, Forest were another club in turmoil off the pitch but still managed to avoid relegation by 10 points.

Bristol City weren't "already a good team" when he took over. They finished 12th in his first season. Then won League One and the Football League Trophy in his second season with the team he built.

He has won promotion 4 times as a manager + 2 cup wins.

How can you say he's out of touch with the modern game? His Bristol City team was League One champions in 2015!

Beggars can't be choosers!! This is partly a fantasy thread. We ain't going to attract a proven manager. Smurf wants Browny to squeeze a win, then he will have the job.

Steve Cotterill is who we should be going after. Even if we go down we'll be in a better position with him at the helm.

There are some other good, proven managers out there right now but I don't know what we're waiting for?

He'd be my choice too.

But, as has been said, Smurthwaite will never pay what's required to get managers of such experience, and indeed, these type of managers probably wouldn't touch Vale (or more to the point, Smurthwaite) with a barge-pole with the reputation that he must have "earned" himself within the football world (for involving himself in player recruitment, and the way he got rid of Page).
