Alnwick

To think Alnwick is still in his early 20's....his potential alone we should be looking at doubling that price at an absolute minimum .

Shoddy business if it happens but at the same time, this is what you get with small time businessmen and 4,000 crowds - Vale have no pulling power for a player.

Brown has a battle on his hands this season. If Vale comfortably stay up he'll have done a very decent job.

His possible transfer fee was agreed by both parties as part of his contract. Like most clubs we can only live within our means.

Lets not kid ourselves. He's off. This is little old Port Vale here bending over backwards for everyone again.

We are little old Port Vale!!!!! Where the hell did you get the impression that we're anything other than a club that mostly resides in the bottom 2 leagues? Was it our impressive collection of Cup wins? Or our mighty crusades in European competitions? Or our record buys of £2 - 5 million????

Don't get me wrong - many of us (but, not all) would love to see the Vale competing in the Prem and dishing it out to the big boys...but that's just dreams, unless we can build up to slowly, like other "little" clubs have done. Get some perspective; grow up a bit! Not seen anywhere yet that he's agreed to go?

And it seems vale fans are waking up to this and deciding that £22/23 is too much to pay for a club that is going nowhere. Attendances are only heading in one direction and, sooner or later, so will the club.

There is a pretty good chance the clause came from the players side of the negotiations, so Jak probably insisted on it, its in or Im out sort of thing. So smurf simply had to decide if it was a deal breaker.

If someone had offered the 250,000 a week after he had signed how many would have said... hes worth millions?

If the above is true how can you blame smurf?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but you cant blame someone for not having it before the event

Perhaps a counter measure for the future would be to insist that a trigger includes a sell on clause... 250,000 + a sell on?... but then the player could always say no

Good to see Smurf has deemed Rangers' terms unacceptable. Unlike MOLD our current chairman is a man of means who doesn't have to wilt at the first offer and can seek the best deal for the club and himself. If Rangers have, as speculated, offered payment in installments it is correct to reject it as their financial status and dealings in recent years suggest it would be very risky to accept such a deal. If they can't pay up front they can't afford him, it's not like it's a multi million pound transfer.

To be fair the player himself should be aiming much higher with his ability, it's a sideways move in pure footballing terms.

Excellent post Geo, the club certainly wouldn't have wanted such a smaller trigger clause fee.

Anybody got a box of matches and some petrol, we could have a big bonfire, mourn for a day and then all become plastic armchair fans.

This is exactly the small minded attitude our fans have.

Crewe got £6m for Nick Powell.

Peterborough got £6m for Dwight Gayle and £5m for Britt Assombalonga

MK Dons got £5 for Deli Alli

Coventry got £3m for Callum Wilson

Walsall got £1.5m for Rico Henry

If any of those players would have been at little old Port Vale we'd have got £300k MAX. That's how it's always been here. It's a shambles. Why can other teams get these kind of fees yet we accept £300k for anyone?

I have no interest in Scottish football, however i do have limited knowledge. The Rangers goalkeeper is ex Swindon Wes Foderingham, so Alnwick has a mighty good chance of dislodging him. The last 3 home games have been 31,000 50,000 and 48,000 . Who would not want to play in front of those crowds?

The standard is poor when the likes of Lionel Ainsworth and Louis Moult are star performers. However it is not a sideways move, Rangers are huge and have been the victims of horrendous mis-management and fraud/ corruption.

If Jak goes then it will be a bigger platform for him at a massive club.

As for the fee well it will be daylight robbery if he goes for 250K .

Gutted if he goes but good luck to him .

Also why would we want a Grimsby reserve keeper as replacement ?
