Matchday Thread: Port Vale v Milton Keynes

Chance of a rare double? Maybe the only one of the season. Uncertainty rules more than ever with the injuries to Alnwick and Streete sustained at Huddersfield, managerial rumours, balance between improving fitness and retaining stamina, bringing in players, etc. One bright spot (Oh! for a Mark)is the availability of the cup tied JJ and Turner, together with Forrester to change the striker situation. Sorry to say but the New Year looks bleak at present, with a very critical January transfer period to get through. Perhaps against less daunting opponents we can at least show some fight, there is all week to re-arrange the team into players willing to put a shift in.

For me, Brown HAS to go 5-3-2 for this one.

We have so little threat in the wide areas and up top we basically need to go strong in the middle of the park. On the basis of Streete and Alnwick being unable, I'd go:-

Santos

Kiko-Knops-Smith-MacIntosh-Purkiss

De-Freitas-Grant-Amoros

Reggie-A.N.Other (one of Turner, Forrester or Hooper)

I agree JJ(if fit), Turner and Forrester should now be considered. Also time to get rid of Kelly (absolute and total waste of a player) and Grant(if he really is uninterested why does Brown still pick him?) and Taylor(seriously he's done absolutely diddley squat for us.) We can do no worse than blood some youngsters as at least hopefully they will show some heart that Valiants demand and expect.

It's so flat at present that we have to give games to those who are NOT just picking up a wage for doing zilch.

We need have a go .

Santos

Purkiss Smith Knopps Kiko

Amoros Defreitas

Thomas Turner Forrester

Cecelia

Defend from the front ,run like crazy and make your own luck .

When attacking it becomes a front 3 .

Go for it .

If fit, JJ must surely start with a strike partner up front. I'd go for Turner with Reg and Forrester on the bench.

I'd keep a simple 4 4 2 system that the players are familiar with.

Keeper

BP NS KK KIKO

RT AG ADF JT

JJ DT

I would start with Forrester and JJ up front and leave Reg on the bench.

Amoros in for Kelly as he played well against MK Dons in the first half.
