Cheap Oldham tickets

If you were hoping to pick one up.....tough.

They went off-sale at 2pm this afternoon.

The official website states they go off-sale on December 30th.

In normal-business world, you may reasonably assume the tickets would be for sale when most potential buyers are in the vicinity ( in our case, a match-day).

Another classic from the ticket office!

Apparently, tickets routinely go off-sale at 2pm before away games. I don't know why, but that's by-the-by.

As ticket office manager would you;

a) make it convenient for the fans (customers) and consider that a home game will bring several dozens/hundreds of sales from people who haven't had chance to get theirs (and may well have been waiting for payday today).

b) stick rigidly and inflexibly to a notional cut-off time and show no common-sense or sales acumen, thereby meaning fans will now have to find an extra £5 on top of their travel costs?

It beggars belief that with crowds dropping, we make it SO HARD to follow the club either home or away.

Incidentally, tonight saw just two turnstiles open for the Railway Paddock.

I swear that a trained macaque monkey could run that ticket office with more gumption.

Just the two turnstiles open in the Railway stand too- one for season ticket holders, one for match tickets even though they just scan the barcodes regardless of what type of ticket you have. We once again had the ridiculous situation of season ticket holders having a long queue while the match day ticket turnstile was completely empty. Also a 10 minute queue at the ticket office, and all that for a home gate of about 3500. Incidentally on Saturday when a few more turned out the ticket queue was all the way back to Hamill Road. (Luckily there was a bloke selling Paddock tickets for correct change, which i duly used to enter the Railway stand with no questions asked!) Add that to the fact that there was no hot food or hot drinks in the Railway stand at half time then you hardly feel you are getting a good match day experience for your pretty expensive £22 ticket.

Talking in pub after last night's match and 3 of us decided we would go to Oldham and pop to club today for tickets. Didn't realise the deadline for the cheaper tickets had ended at 2pm yesterday!! Not bothering now

And you won't be the only ones thinking like that. It sticks in the craw shelling out an extra £5.00, it's not unusual to want to get something at it's cheapeest price.

Never mind, the Ticket Office get to keep to their ancient and customer-unfriendly systems so all's good eh?

I did start a thread telling of the cheap offer on 23/12/16.i agree is idiotic marketing taking tickets off sale less than 6 hours before a home game when all your customers are going to be there en mass. Having said that £20 is still one of the cheaper ticket prices.

Whos says its dearer on the day? I was going drive this one me self due to it been cheap for me and kids.

edit: Just seen on Vale website its still £5.00 for kids on the day, but £20 on day for me. Also just says Tickets will then be on sale until the 30th of December from the Ticket Office and after that date, fans will be able to purchase tickets on the day of the game, no mention of the 2pm deadline.

Here's some examples of how useless they are;

1) the total absence of any marketing for season-ticket renewals

2) the offer of half-season tickets being released just days before Xmas (I'd love to know the sales figures for this gem)

3)the total failure to promote the £12 FA Cup tickets this season

I'll ask again.....what EXACTLY do they do all week?!!
