Smurf apologises for Sunday

I suspect he let his thoughts be known to the manager and players, and for once I don't blame him.

Maidenhead were unable to get the ball off us for long periods but we actually attacked them very little.

They actually looked like a part-time team, and carried virtually no threat at all.

A second goal would have seen them crumble - I wonder what their defence made of us not starting with Uche, having only to deal with Dodds and Leitch-Smith for over half the match. Our "keep-ball in the corner" was a poor show against a non-league team.

I really really hope we can win down there and put this one to bed, because it was a poor effort.

One of the things that got on my nerves was Dodds & AJ's reluctance to shoot and MOC and Granty's will to have a pop no matter how far out they were

Not sure why he feels the need to apologise personally. It's the FA Cup, these things happen. It's all about being in the draw for the next round and Vale just need to finish the job off next time.......

Oh yes he does as should all the playing staff it was an embarrasment and it aint finished yet they have got to try and win the away game and there's bob hope of that happening.

I don't agree. It's his Club and he sees it as his responsibility. And he's right. If they fail in the replay I suspect it will be Page's last game. I think Norm's attitude is refreshing.

I, too think it's refreshing and I also agree with the comment that it shows he cares. We all know he does anyway because of his actions for our Club since taking over. Yes he has and will make mistakes along the way and perhaps he is now seriously questioning his wisdom in appointing RP without any thought of a new man after Mickey departed.

Hindsight is a wonderful attribute but even Norman doesn't have a crystal ball!

He was gutted and embarrassed on Sunday, you could see that from the Lorne Street. He cares alright about his club. I suspect that the manager and players would not have needed Norman to speak to them after that disgrace, and hope that the majority would take their responsibilities on the chin and show us all that they apologise by winning the replay and giving whatever they have for the rest of this season. My thought is that many of those players will not be here next season, with or without RP.

I speak for myself and not others. But many Stoke fans would find Vale going out to Maidenhead hilarious, in the same way that many Vale fans would find it hilarious if we got knocked out to Morecambe or someone similar in Round 3. That's local rivalry I guess, still doesn't mean that NS should have to apologise for something out of his control on the pitch.....

I feel you are wrong in the sense that I feel NS does have some control on what happens on the pitch, he appointed Page, he pays the wages. NS has got to take some responsibility for the dross that was on Sunday just likes he takes some of the credit when things go well.
