Smurf apologises for Sunday

Not sure why he feels the need to apologise personally. It's the FA Cup, these things happen. It's all about being in the draw for the next round and Vale just need to finish the job off next time.......

You need to pass that sensible approach on to the usual suspects from the oatcake who are taking great pleasure digging at Smurf on Twitter Re. our recent exploits in the FA Cup.

I suspect he let his thoughts be known to the manager and players, and for once I don't blame him.

Maidenhead were unable to get the ball off us for long periods but we actually attacked them very little.

They actually looked like a part-time team, and carried virtually no threat at all.

A second goal would have seen them crumble - I wonder what their defence made of us not starting with Uche, having only to deal with Dodds and Leitch-Smith for over half the match. Our "keep-ball in the corner" was a poor show against a non-league team.

I really really hope we can win down there and put this one to bed, because it was a poor effort.

If Smurf is feeling like that, it can't bode well for Page.

Fair call to Smurf for this apology.Smurf didn't play, pick the team or the tactics. But the best way to apologise to the fans is down to Page and the player's.That apology starts with a win on Saturday and a win in the replay.

When the Boss is unhappy about the performance, watch out, he is expecting a response from the players and management.

He has every right to be unhappy, but if anyone should apologise for the performance it's Page and the players

The players and the manager should chuck some money into a fund and pay for the coach trip down and back to any fans going to the replay.

I speak for myself and not others. But many Stoke fans would find Vale going out to Maidenhead hilarious, in the same way that many Vale fans would find it hilarious if we got knocked out to Morecambe or someone similar in Round 3. That's local rivalry I guess, still doesn't mean that NS should have to apologise for something out of his control on the pitch.....

I don't agree. It's his Club and he sees it as his responsibility. And he's right. If they fail in the replay I suspect it will be Page's last game. I think Norm's attitude is refreshing.

Said the same on the match thread last night, don't think they will do that but after yesterday's awful performance, it is the least they should do, how much would it be for 4 or 5 coaches to be put on. If it wasn't for the abject performance of the players and negative tactics of the manager, supporters would not have to be finding this money at an expensive time of year.
