Arrests at FIFA

Recommended Posts

US law may not treat black people very fairly, but they are much more severe than the UK and other Euro countries when it comes to financial crime and fraud. The sentences are much more severe and they are prepared to use all extra jurisdictional reach to get people to the US for trial. Made my day. And the Swiss don't want Zurich undermined as a rival to London in the financial markets so they can be expected to nail people as well.

Blatter hasn't orchestrated this - FIFA has been caught with its pants down this morning. And the election of the president is carried out by the FIFA congress which has 209 members, each of which has one vote so getting rid of a few folk, some of whom like Jeffrey Webb are Blatter acolytes, will make no difference.

Although Blatter has not been arrested he has been told he can't leave Switzerland.

Well.. the presidential voting is now taking place. Blatter got a better reception for his speech than Prince Ali. So I am expecting Blatter to get in again, which would be totally farcical. But this is FIFA. Blatter has to be accountable for what has happened, even if he is not directly involved. But he seems Teflon coated. I find it very difficult to believe that Blatter knows nothing about the corruption within FIFA, yet that is the way he portrays himself. Whiter than white.

Allegations have been going around for age's.Just how he can claim that knows NOTHING is amazing. While such allegations were doing the rounds then he surely would have looked into them.

As long as its a law unto itself it will get away with this sort of thing..who actually regulates FIFA? or indeed UEFA or any of the other assocaitions???? Who has jurisdiction over FIFA and its members?

I suspect (and I hope that I am wrong) that a lot of 'wrong doing' will be proven but no criminal activity....or it will have taken place where the country involved won't do anything

Exactly. And I am sure also that a lot of the votes for Blatter are solely to prevent a new president getting in who may actually start a proper full internal investigation. Corruption is rife and we see it demonstrated right here.
