Player Contracts

When Shrewsbury came up a few years ago Graham Turner got rid of Neal because he is not good enough for league one so even he knew then.

Neal has won us so many points this season! I can think of countless games in which he alone got us 1/3 points. Go on then explain who is a better keeper for league 1 who we could get. Neal was superb last season and has been up there for player of the season this year, just behind Marshall and Oconnor. Also Neal dosent think he is better than what he is, read his comments in the sentinel, completely different to Lines.

P.s Turner didnt get rid of Neal, we offered a better deal....

I despair that Daniel, Duffy and Lines are under contract for next season, although I have no personal dislike of any of them I just think none of them are good enough for L1, although Lines could be with a bit more effort.

Dicko hasn't had a good season but has improved of late and should be good enough for our level, he's played a lot of Championship football.

Why anybody would want to offload Neal is beyond me, he's a decent keeper and we're unlikely to get better and the same goes for Sam Johnson. Conversely I don't understand Vaselli's popularity with some folk as I think he's hopeless at right back and not much better in the middle. Dicko's under contract so he'll stay but I wouldn't be particularly bothered to keeping any of the other defenders because they've consistently demonstrated they're about as good at keeping clean sheets as a dysentery victim.

Pretty much agree with most of that .... I do wonder if Daniel wouldn't be better at left back, he reminds me a bit of Hughes as a winger (headless and quick with a decent build) and has played leftback before. We are woefully short of pace in the back 4 and we would be able to play with a higher line with at least one quick fullback. He isn't a good enough as an attacking threat at this level.

Im the same height as Chris Neal and I was a keeper. I commanded my 6 yard box, yet was told at 19 I wasnt big enough to be a keeper!

I know his shot stopping abilities are good and dont question them however having a loud comnanding confident keeper, means having a confident back 4. Something which we havent had all season. Innes to one side we have not found one combination at the back that looks comfortable, yet at no point have we looked at changing the goalie to see if that was the issue?

Somedays yes hes excellent others like the crawley game he was awful and at fault for two if not all three of the goals because he didnt command what he should have his six yard box.

Even one of our greatest keepers Mr Ken Hancock has doubts over him for those reasons. Like i said whilst shot stopping is good for the cameras and the fans the basics musnt go un-noticed. Every ball we put into bristol cities box was commanded and collected by their goalie. Their defence looked solid and they were vocally very strong.

It all starts from the keeper if they are confident and strong so are the rest. Just an opinion of course.

Yeh, I was just saying. If we can move some of those lads on I wouldn't object but I'd definitely keep Neal.

Comments like that prove to me u no nothing about football even tho u attend all the games the proof will be shown in the forthcoming critical games where neal is out shopping with his missus

Turner actually offered him a contract but Neal turned it down so Turner clearly thought he was worth keeping.
