Gerrard to leave Liverpool.

Its a good job he's not Catholic ! The media would have him on a fast track to becoming a saint.

Yes he was a very good player but recently he has been shown to be over the crest and gathering pace on the downward spiral to the good ship MLS gravy boat. He was a very Big fish in a once magnificent pool which is also silting up rapidly.

A very good player? Don't be silly. He was an outstanding player for Liverpool, and one when at his best could play for any team in the world. Some of his performances, especially in Europe, were Roy of the Rovers stuff at times. He's one of the best midfielders this country has produced.

Stevie G has been a brilliant player for Club and Country.....

Much less so for England, which is probably down to a few reasons. But for Liverpool he's right up there with Dalglish as the best player to ever play for the club. And considering the success Liverpool have had, though obviously less so in recent history, and some of the players that have pulled on the shirt, that is quite an achievement.

Would that be a school near the Vale ground ? I would be safe from seeing you then, as it looks like you post through Vale matches on here, and those posts are about Liverpool, probably don't even follow Vale on the radio or Valiant Player.

THAT makes me cringe.

I've been attending Vale games every season since I was three years or four years old. Not that I really need to explain myself or what I choose to do with my time with you, so please don't think that I do. Sadly, Vale, and Liverpool bashing, seeing as you seem somewhat obsessed, is probably all you have in your sad, pathetic life. I pity you.

Can't believe the vitriol towards Steven Gerrard on here, simply briliant player for club and country, as single handed as single handed gets he won the CL for Liverpool. The most dominant club player in Europe at his peak, no player performed better for or contributed more to their club.

Most of the vitriol is not towards Gerrard himself. I would say everyone realises he is a good loyal player and has been the star in a fading club that at one time were always expected to challenge for the league - but not so since 1990.

The vitriol is towards the deluded worshipping fans who make the player out to be a God in a team that are constantly unlucky, conspired against, mistreated and so on. It's this chip on the shoulder attitude - much in contrast to Everton, I might add - that causes such dislike. Gerrard will fade away across the ocean and his overblown club will descend further.

The basic problem with your posts is that the facts are wrong, you post a rubbish load of total inaccuracies then refuse to acknowledge the fact when someone researches what you are saying and exposes it as total bull*****.

A couple of days ago you said Liverpool would have been as good as Man City with a net spend the same and another poster proved that your binmen had actually spent MORE (£32m v £36m) in the period under discussion, a fact you chose to ignore.

Same here, you think people will be impressed if you colourfully suggest I should be sectioned for suggesting Cantona and others were bigger achievers than misery-guts Gerrard.

Sadly for your argument, Cantona can boast no fewer than five, yes FIVE Premier league winners medals in just 6 seasons (5 at United, 1 Leeds when it was called Div 1) - remember those ? You know the things Liverpool haven't seen in the last 25 years or so and Gerrard will NEVER have a single one of. Oh, but I forgot... Gerrard NEARLY one a single one to Eric's five.

In the same period Cantona bagged 2 FA cup winners medals and a few nondescript Charity Shield wins as you are bound to mention your dippers 5 cups in one season (FA, egg, Super Cup ha ha, tinpot League cup etc) but top flight winners medals are what counts.

I'd wager that if you asked any non-Lpool and non-United fan (and I don't care for either team) which player had more flair, skill and talent, who was most watchable, who enjoyed playing, and who indeed was a more likeable and adored player Cantona would win every time.

Cantona is a legend to the Man.Utd supporters but he will always be remembered by many other fans for the eight months suspension he received for assaulting a Palace fan and spitting at a Leeds fan. Can't remember Eric winning a Champions League winners medal either?

Completely agree pal. Unfortunately, there's a small brigade of anti-Liverpool cretins on this board (hence all of the thumbs down on your post) that will stubbornly refuse to give any credit where it's due. Just 3 or 4 pathetic low life's with nothing better to do with their time, Bea Smith being the biggest **** of them all.

I agree about Liverpool. But best player for country?? Common Gerrard has always been average for England, never lived up to his Liverpool performances.
