Congratulations to UKIP

Agreed JA. I think this'll be a short-term appointment. Whilst the tories threw a lot at this, once the general election juggernauts of the big two parties kick in then it'll be very interesting indeed.

Well done to the Labour MP on twitter. If they weren't done burning their bridges with the working class, they certainly had a good go at finishing the job yesterday.

I still don't understand why she was forced to resign.

I think we've seen that many people in the UK are fed up with the EU and privately educated bankers making a mess of the country, and so in response have voted for a party led by an EU sponsored privately educated former banker.

It's beyond impossible to satirise this stuff.

Where do you get this from?

First of all, Farage isn't sponsored by the EU - he was elected as an MEP in order to oppose it. So sponsored is the last thing he is.

Secondly, he wasn't a banker - he was a commodities trader who specialised in buying and selling metals. And there is a world of difference between city traders (who were never implicated in the financial crash of 2008) and bankers (who caused it, heaping misery on millions of people).

So what we actually have is people in the UK who are fed up with the EU and privately educated bankers making a mess of the country, voting for a party led by a privately educated city trader who is totally opposed to the EU, wants to take us out of it, and will restore the sovereignty we've lost.

Nigel Farage's secret of success "If you want the secret about how we won in Rochester… there it is.Listening to people, and not just because you have to,because you’re an MP,or MEP or a politico but because you need to listen to people,to hear what they want and build these concerns into sensible policy recommendations. No more so is this true of the collapsing Labour vote."

From that, nothing could be clearer than the fact that the upper-class waster I referred to was the German aristocrat in the film itself, NOT YOU.

You really think that I thought you were referring to me ??? OMG!!!! Did you no see the winking smilie??? It would appear not.

have you actually seen the film

Two or three times

- you said it was good,

well made, very atmospheric, entertaining..yeh it's good

and this is one of the major characters who seduces both Liza Minelli and Michael York.

Indeed

So either you are self-obsessed, paranoid and want notice taken of you (oh, surely not) or you cannot read a clear piece of text, or maybe both/all ?

Or I had my tongue firmly in my cheek..hence the smiley? Did you consider that? It would appear not

I know you are anti-UKIP, but I feel sure they think you are helping them along quite nicely.

You think lickle me has such influence? OMG if only I'd known before now ;)

You, Johnny Aitch and those who express similar opinions are doing more for UKIP than a million immigrants a month could. You don't even realise that you are doing exactly the same as that silly tweet woman did to Labour.

What do you want me to do other than not vote UKIP and campaign for another party (as I will be locally) and (as I did last time) transport elderly people to cast their vote (non-UKIPers) and condemn UKIPs policies which I have done consistantly, condemn their links witrh the far right (which I do), advocate people to learn all they can about the various party policies and get out and make their vote count (as I have previously on here for example), pick holes in UKIPs manifesto as I have done on many occasions?

I am active in politics locally and as such will be actively campaigning against UKIP..OVF is not part of my campaigning cos not many people in East Devon read OVF

Tell me please..what more?

And/or have the sitting MP join your party...a massive help

Just look back at what you posted, it is clear you misread the original post and it really does you no credit to deny that you made a mistake. No big deal, we all make mistakes, but to try and cover it like this is very revealing. As I wasn't referring to you when I mentioned the film, your posted text saying

'So I'm an upper class waster now'

would make no sense, smiley or not.

Hagrid saying UKIP voters have less intelligence and you implying that they don't really matter because UKIP wont be strong in a 'real' election will just make people who have been swayed into voting for them continue to do so, what is needed is to expose all of their policies, not just talk about immigration. Many of them have said they want a privatised NHS for one example.

Kevin Struggles, not sure if I made myself clear. I meant wars between member states of the EEC. I do think being in a trade body helps, it won't stop one if tensions get bad enough and I'm not 100% sure if there has been a conflict between any. Certainly the uk hasn't had a war with an EEC member state have we?

It's also true that no democracy has ever waged a war against another democracy but we haven't needed a political project to achieve that have we? The reasons why we've had peace in Europe since the war are many and varied and not many of them involve the EU. By contrast, the EU has shown it's quite capable of stirring up civil unrest (by its draconian economic policies that have driven millions of people in southern Europe into unemployment, recession and poverty), by interfering in the affairs of sovereign nations (like Greece and Italy), and by stirring up trouble in nations outside the EU (like the Ukraine). If any other political body had behaved like this, we would never have heard the last of it.

If, as you say, you want to ensure that UKIP are taken seriously in order to show their true colours, it would help if you didn't misrepresent their policies. UKIP's health policy is to ensure that the NHS continues to be free at the point of delivery and time of need for all UK citizens. More to the point, it intends to abolish PFI, unlike Labour, which has already turned over £310bn of NHS estate to the private sector through its PFI privatisation policies, a prize piece of hypocrisy on their part, if ever I saw one.

When people hear allegations that UKIP intend to privatise the NHS and then find it's not true, it simply gives UKIP more and more credibility.
