No no no no! One game on which we were dire in the first half after another boring selection changes nothing. We won yes but we really weren't that good. Page is a certain no for me we need a clear out. One win dosent change anything.

I honestly cannot understand those who don't want Page. What's the argument? That he is too much like MA? He's not. From the games I've seen, we're now playing through the middle with Lines & O'Connor looking like different players.

We're unbeaten in 4 home games. The defence is looking a million times better (Tues excepted)

Page comes across really well in interviews.*Yes articulate & has played at the highest level.

Who is a better choice right now?

I've yet to see you post anything constructive about any aspect of the Vale.

Nothing in life is permanent, not even life itself, but Page should be given an appointment as manager, not interim, probably to the end of the season. Team results during his period in charge thoroughly justify the appointment. It seems to me that he has a very good idea of who his best players are and is trying to develop a team with spirit and effort. There are also encouraging signs of improvement in the way we play less hoofing and more passing. There can be reasons for team selection which are not fully revealed to us. For example we may have to pay Slew's full wages if he doesn't play. Probably N'guessan is not fully match fit. Streete had accepted that he would have to wait for his opportunity. Page's experience may have told him that Orient would try to take Streete out of the game if he started. Page certainly needs a good assistant, preferably experience at League One level.

Looks like he's going to get it regardless of what any of us think.

John McGrath once said that there were two types of player: the ones who will keep you in a job and the ones who will get you the sack. Hopefully today was part of the learning curve and he now knows a bit more about which of his players belong in which category.

Rob Page will have been appointed before the Colchester match as Smurf has already said he will decide by Friday and announce it. It's 100 per cent certain, and rightly so, in my view - Page has the support of the players and to bring in anyone else now would be asking for trouble. Page deserves it and could end up being the new John Rudge.

Rudge was the cheap option, and with some luck at the start of his managerial career (Kevin Finney) he turned out to be somewhat of an anomaly

The other 'cheapos' - Foyle, Glover, Sinnott, Gannon etc.provide more than enough statistical evidence that cheap and cheerful will fail in the long term.

To be honest, I thought that Smurf was better than that, but as each day passes, he sounds more like Bill Pratt. Blaming the fans, lack of money etc, etc. Unfortunately Mr. Chairman, you are judged on how you act in the tough times and how you overcome such issues. Did you really think that being a Chairman in a promotion season was how it was always going to be?

What wasn't constructive? I gave my views on the opening question. Page is a no for me...

The majority on here will only class you as constructive if you agree with their opinions. Start praising Yates & Dodds after each game and you'll be fine.

You make some relevant points however our defence isn't a million times better.

I'd prefer to have a clean sweep and fresh start but if we haven't got the finances we haven't much of a choice. The candidates I'd choose are also probably out of reach.

Page is a nice, decent bloke who we'll have to back. I just hope the players are serious about stepping up for him...and not just for 5 minutes after his appointment.
