Zubar - or someone similar - should keep his place in the team. He's the big, physical presence that we've lacked and neither Duffy nor McGivern are as physical or aggressive as he is. If he carries on like this we should really try and sign him. They're 'sweepers'. He is more of a stopper who heads the first ball. I thought he was good today.

Zubar has got to play IMO, I would also like to see McGivern back in the side though.

A good win and we looked a good side. It is difficult to say how good Yeovil are, it seemed to me they have a confused nature of trying to play Championship level football but not having the resilience needed in midfield nor the attacking edge. We looked a balanced team that should steadily climb up the league. A run of games where we can pick up results but need to take chances against Preston.

 

I thought the same. Trying to play a pretty passing style which just won't work at this level.

Prefer McGivern to Duffy if we are keeping Zubar in the side, unless we go to 5 at the back against Preston next week.

Other than one game against Bristol McGivern has been clearly our best defender IMO, For me its him and Zubar, but I guess it will be Duffy and Zubar against Preston. I thought he would play as well and Zubar to move to right back, although he looks like a centre back not a right back. We have too many centre backs, I cant imagine Streete will play against Preston, seem strange to bring him in for the month.

We've all forgotten about Streete in the excitement of today's good victory. I too was very surprised he didn't start considering we've been chasing him for months. But the problem now is - we've had a great result today, so how does Streete (or McGivern) break into the current team?

 

Might be controversial I know but you could play them both if you dropped the two full backs!

 

It's an interesting one for Page. I'm 100% sure that Streete didn't sign [for a month only remember] just to warm the bench.

The team is playing like a team. Each player knows his role and that of his team mates. We seem to be more structured than under Adams. Players are committed to the Vale cause. Next week is difficult for us. I want us to match this level of commitment and I will be happy irrespective of the result as it will leave us in good health for two winnable games.

Passing and movement off the ball was about a million percent better than some of the early season percentage stuff. Pope was a handful when they tried to defend deep. Marshall and Willo caused them problems when they tried to keep a high line. Dodds, Lines and MO'C all moved the ball around crisply and intelligently and the front 6 pressed with great intensity.

 

The dinosaur looks like it's extinct.

With the highly rated Streete also in the ranks all of a sudden it looks like we have too much competition at the back if anything haha. What a difference a week can make in football!

Brilliant stuff today. We could have got double figures we created so many chances. And for the first time this season we won both halves of the game. Well done lads.
