In all fairness though, what did everybody expect when Smurf came out with the things that he did? I doubt anyone would've responded with 'It's okay. Nothing to worry about. The deal will be resurrected tomorrow'. He gave a lot of supporters the opportunity to feel frustrated. He gave those fans the chance to lash out. It was his words and negativity in the first instance that led to all the bickering, digs towards himself, and the general arguing amongst supporters.

Huge credit to him if he has managed to turn what looked like a dead deal into a possibility. Whether it's him financially contributing, or good negotiation skills. However, he could've prevented all that was said since by not saying the things he said. He doesn't do himself any favours at times. He just needs to learn to keep his mouth shut sometimes as it's his comments that rub some fans up the wrong way.

I'm hoping for some great news today.

If Smurf has rescued the deal I would say well done to him. I Do not blame him for trying to get O'Connor with an opening gambit of a low wage offer. If he had given O'Connor what he asked for it would gotten around to other prospective signings and could have cost the club more money in the long term as they would have asked for their perceived top worth. It is not about where you start in negotiations it is where you end up if the deal is signed to both parties satisfaction.

We still need a forward and a centre half with pace.

Once again, O'connor didn't want what he was on at Rotherham.....
