I have no idea who the lad is or what he is capable of so I have to trust whoever selected him and signed him does.

Good luck to him, I hope he doesnt need luck, I hope his abilities are what the team need and he fits into the plan.

You need a squad of at least 24 to compete. We used 27 players last season, one of only a handful to have used less than 30. So you need a squad to compete.

 

If people think we can afford a squad of 24 players all with Loft type ability then they are mistaken. We need players like Daniel to improve the overall squad and compliment our existing players. It isn't a bums on seats style signing but it improves our squad.

Good solid addition to the squad with natural ability and speed and he can cover left back and left midfield. Hopefully he will surprise a few on here and become a great success.

Can you imagine the uproar if we had internet back in the day when Rudgey went and signed players from Moor Green (Ian Taylor, Stewart Talbot), FC Wageningen (Robin Van Der Laan), Lincoln City (Gareth Ainsworth), York City (Jon McCarthy) etc.

I agree with the gist of your post ST, however the key difference with the likes of McCarthy and Ainsworth were that they were star players for their clubs, hence why we paid £500k for Ainsworth and £450k for McCarthy. They came with a proven lower league pedigree. Daniel could be the new Akpo Sodje or he could be the new Paul Harsley.

I agree. But turn it on its head. If we signed a player from a premier league or championship side is that then going to be a fantastic signing and work out?

Some of the things ive read on social media this last 24 hours beggars belief.

A simple, "Welcome to the club" is all thats required if taking to the internet to speak about the lad. Not the vile abuse towards his potential footballing ability and towards the club for not making him a marquee signing.

 

When i see one lad state that he is "off to the bookies to put a tenner on us get relegated after that signing", it makes me disgusted.
