Good Old Labour Council

The Labour Party have been a waste of time. They have wasted millions of pounds of council tax payers money, failed miserably to attract any life changing investment in the city, systematically destroyed nearly every decent building and vindictively pulled the plug on the Vale market and replaced it with a now defunct street market in Burslem. The sad thing is that they hold on to this illusion that they have done great things. What a sad lot they are.

To be fair I share many of those views but Ido thank them for saving us and writing off vast amounts of money in the process.

That says it all! And people still are putting their trust & faith in Labour!

Now now......their are people doing this sort of thing in all parties..it's just that Labour claim to be all nice and cuddly when they are as bad as the rest

Plus "He has apologised for his actions"

Jesus Christ what a party of loons!

I wonder if this pillock is the same guy who used to regularly text the station 'Adams Out' in our promotion season under the guise of Stan Ogden?

The Chelsea Flower Show affair, which can be seen as an attempt to market the city in a positive way, might well have cost too much. It pales into insignificance, however, when compared to the plan to spend a million quid on consultants to try to persuade the government to route HS2 through the city when Crewe is the obvious hub for it.

I can't make an argument for or against what you say. But I would say, if we look at history, that influence got the east coast mainline built through York and this was important in the city's economic development. Meanwhile Leeds for example is off route, so to speak and the whole of West Yorkshire is today compromised in its links to London which does bring financial disadvantage. In France towns and cities beg to get high speed stations, although to be fair France being a bigger country attaches more importance to high speed links.

So lobbying is not completely in the clouds, but there has to be reasonable prospect of influencing the decision to bother.

Is that the same france that has new trains too big for its stations?

Snouts in the trough again. Still the Stoke voters would vote in a donkey providing it wore a red rosette!

I can't agree that it's "snouts in the trough"--it appears to be an investment to market & promote Stoke-On-Trent. If it produces tangible results (eg firms moving to Stoke and more jobs created) then it's probably money well spent--but then Labour, whether in government or local councils have form on the very free spending of taxpayers' money--no doubt we'll see them flinging it about again and building up more national debt, if God forbid, they win an overall majority in Parliament next year!
