Sheff Utd fixture update

This decision to play on the Friday, whoever is responsible for it, will cost us a small fortune.

What should have been a decent Saturday crowd (6-7k) will now be a 5k maximum.

Traditionally, clubs have a good crowd for their last home game as it's a last chance to see live football for 3 months or so.

It's also an above-average away following, as it's the visiting club's last away fixture of the season.

I'm really, really disappointed about this.

You can thank Stoke & the Premier League for that as they always take priority.

With regard to playing the Sunday, the Policing would have been too expensive (double time) and Sheffield Utd had one of their games in hand the following Tuesday so they probably wouldn't have agreed.

The police don't get double time for working on a Sunday, it's a normal working day, they would only be paid overtime if they worked over 9 hrs

Why did the fixture computer have us both down for home Saturday

league games anyway?

Particularly the last game which is important - either if we had something to play for or one of the clubs chances to promote next season with supporters whilst in the ground.

According to comments on another thread it was the Vale's decision to switch to Friday. The Blunt *******s have a match at Oldham four days after this now too, due to cup-induced postponements.
