Appalling treatment of away fans ..... again.

So whilst trying to be a smart **** you've essentially just given the same scenario as I did on the previous page when a mate of mine drove from Cardiff to Stoke to get a coach back to Cardiff. Not sure why you were singling Man Utd out?

I think the point melv was making is that most man u fans don't live in Manchester.

He loves going round the mulberry bush that lad. Succinctly put that Conrad :)

The simplest thing would have been to ban away fans which is probably the next step if there is more trouble. The problem with this is that the buses will probably come under attack from idiots waiting outside 'claiming' to be Newcastle fans as we have personally experienced in the past as a club.

Quite why anyone wants to pay good money and a lot of it to sit in the lap of the gods at St James' and hardly see the game is beyond me, did it once and never again!

I unsurprised there hang been a legal challenge to this.

I'll have a pint of what you are on!

Know what you say though. Very surprised some lawyer/solicitor hasn't taken up the challenge of legally getting all this nonsense dropped. Got to be against civil liberties and the police are now ruling and ruining everything.

Same here Dave. If I lived elsewhere in the UK outside of the Potteries, and faced with such an absurd situation, I would have no hesitation in challenging it in Court - even go as far as to rattle the political cages for a reaction.

The mind boggles

Blackburn v Burnley has has this procedure in place for a few years now for their local derbies......
my cousin who lives adjacent to Blackburns ground but supports burnley, was subjected to this madness. He had to travel to burnley and even after fully explaining after the game that he lived 200 yards away, was herded on a bus and driven to burnley. Crazy.

That is totally insane. The police could have simply just walked that far with him.

This stupidity surely tempts Sunderland fans living in Newcastle to claim to be Newcastle fans and go into the home end. There are many cases of away fans being badly treated which is why we should draw attention to clubs like Preston and Crawley which go out of their way to welcome away fans.

You cannot treat all fans as trouble makers, it is a prejudicial policy and I hope as someone has stated someone makes a legal challenge. Ironically I remember Monica Hartland (chair of the London Stoke lot) having a similar issue at trying to get back to Stoke station as she lived in London but she wasn't allowed.
