v Peterborough..Pre match and game itself

The performance today was excellent and head and shoulders above the Bristol and Rochdale performances, I don't think we deserved that defeat today it was a cruel blow so late in the game and really could have gone either way

Thought lines was excellent today and shone like a beacon as our best player, that run he did in the second half into their box was class and better than any of our wingers could do, deserved a goal at the end of it

It's good that we have the players to mix it up and choose a different playing style each week depending on the opposition and think Adams was spot on with his tactics today after all we nullified a team that had racked up five straight away wins on the bounce scoring 15 goals in the process....they will def go up in my opinion this season

Onwards to sheff utd next week it will be interesting to see what team we put out against them

Wasn't the 1st time during the game Grif stopped or was flat footed!

Dicko should definitely be used as our holding midfielder now. Griff for me does a lot of huffing and puffing with some good work but his distribution and poor judgement at times lets him down and can cost us at this level. Pity dicko is suspended for sheffield

You may be right. The game lasts 90 minutes, not 84. Switch off at this level against teams like Peterborough and you're likely to get punished. Such a pity because the great effort by all the players yesterday should have been rewarded with at least a point.

To be fair to Griff I don't think that Dickinsons passing is any better and he spends too much time apologising to other players after making mistakes. Stop making the damn things then you wouldn't have to. That said he started poorly yesterday but gradually improved and put in a decent shift, was unlucky with the yellow, really nothing in it.

I agree with most on here about the general performance, we played reasonably well. Adams got his tactics spot on, very solid midfield playing 3 stoppers and 2 all rounders who are highly mobile, can get forward and defend. Lofty covered every blade of grass and I've never seen Lines move so quick as he did on a couple of runs he made yesterday. Yatesy had a decent game as did Jones one fantastic well timed challenge on the edge of our own box stopped a certain 1-on-1.

It was a shame that we were issued with a couple of soft bookings making the players less effective, Ferguson on the other hand retired 2 of his players straight after they were booked without weakening his side it seemed. They've obviously got more strength sitting on the bench than we had yesterday. One final point despite the error with Dickingsons yellow and his failure to do anything about Swansons antics I thought that the referee has a great game yesterday in very difficult conditions. He let the play go on when he could have pulled it back any number of times. Credit also to some of the Peterborough lot (Swanson excepted) as they could've took a dive on more than one occasion in the area and claimed a pen.

We battled very well against a top side (although they did not play like one today.... An off day perhaps?). Totally opposite to last week where we stole a point. This week one was stolen from us.

Two concerns for me. Firstly Chris Neal getting beaten again at the near post. Yes Barnett's shot was hit well but it was not across Neal and hr looked leaden footed. It is something he and the coaching staff need to look at as he was beaten at the near post for goals against Wolves & Bristol City.

The other point is lack of goal opportunities. Yes we were set up to be solid and tight which obviously means we create fewer chances. However in 3 home games on the spin we have barely created a handful of chances. Goals is what we need and that needs to be addressed ASAP. Otherwise it is going to be a long hard winter for us.

I haven`t seen a replay of the goal but thought I heard a deflection at the game, which could explain how it went in. No shortage of effort from the lads but thought we might gamble with Myrie coming on for the last 15 mins or so.

Some moronic comments on here, I dont know what game some of you watch. The fans applauded the team off at the end and there was no moaning where I sit in the paddock

Yes I also enjoyed the game, sorry that we lost, but clapped the players of for their all round effort, Keep to faith

Definitely agree with that. Thought Dickinson played really well yesterday in midfield, made a couple of surging runs himself and tracked back once in the 2nd half when one of their runners would have been clear on goal. We are not a million miles away with that team and will create more as we won't face centre halves like their no 5 every week who I thought was MoM by a mile.

Ignoring the result I thought yesterdays match was brilliant. Chess match tactics, crap ref, a state-of-the-art performance from a midfielder, players worth more than Vale etc etc

Thought Vale's formation worked a treat and forced the players to pass it around rather than lump it forward. Every player was excellent. Dickinson was a revelation and I'd keep him in midfield as it allowed Lines to stay forward. Hughes ran around like a teenager and had he been given the ball sooner we'd be talking about Vale's 2-1 win.

Then there was Chris Lines. Bar the two passes he should have made earlier and release Hughes on goal, his performance will live long in the memory. The formation clearly favoured him and we should persist with it, with one change. Drop Griff and either replace with Shuker or Myrie-Williams for an extra footballing dimension.

And well done Micky Adams for doing your homework. Worked a treat, shame the result didn't match the performance.
