Perhaps its a case of the new owners do not have a lot of money (a la Peter Coates) but they do have business acumen and they have seen a 'bargain' for sale that they intend to fatten up the assets and in time sell it on - all absolutely fine by me because to achieve their aim they have to make the club successful both on and off the pitch.

They inherited a debt free club with a Championship stadium and potentially large fanbase.

They believe that with their skills (rather than just money) they can achieve their aims and I think the vast majority on here believe they can too.

I think we can all think too much and it's time to have the Summer off from worrying and just see what happens!
Sensible words Tosh. I reckon too much thinking can give you a headache! For me as long as we get a few decent new signings in I will be as happy as Larry (whoever he is?)

I believe we have restrictions imposed on us due to being in administration. If my memory serves, these restrictions are in place for the next three years and limit the amount we can spend on wages compared to our income (aswell as the new FL rules)

So, taking this into account, the only way we can be competitive is to generate as much income as possible from season ticket sales, merchandise etc; hence the increase in prices. PW and NS could not 'bankroll' us even if they wanted to.

These two gents are the best thing that has happened to Vale for as long as I can remember and I really do believe they will lead us to the Championship. I've got my season ticket and I hope 5000 fellow Vale fans follow suit so we can be a force to be reckoned with in league 1.

The only way is up. UTV

Yes, you are right, but we need the the guaranteed income of season tickets in order to set the budget accordingly. The pay on the gate fans will fluctuate depending on how well we are doing, and is not something that can easily be predicted.

Yea that is fair enough. There have been seasons where I couldn't afford a season ticket but have payed on the gate for every game. In an ideal world the most of the homes support would be season ticket holders. Though we have moved on from the days of even the 90s where I think we were only selling around 2k season tickets.

In the mid 80s our season ticket sales did not reach four figures.
