Lorne street standing

Is it possible to make the current empty Lorne street stand a standing only terrace?

I believe in the bottom 2 divisions if not already seated then there is no rule to make these sections seated only and it would create a lot better atmosphere with a reduced admission price with cheaper construction and maintenance.

I believe that it cannot be done as the plans for the Lorne Street stand included seats and once the plans have been accepted to be an all seater stadium they cannot be changed.

I also believe that the rake of the stand and step height are for seating and not for standing so they would not pass a safety inspection.

Its to do with H&S. The gradient between the levels is higher in the new lorne street in order to accomodate the seats. Areas designed for standing have lower gradients. I've long been an advocate for a return to terracing but it wont happen there.

I suspect that the lower section of the family stand has the old gradiant though so that might be an option?

Don't think that even that's an option now as we were in Division 1 (now Championship) when all Taylor Report came into being we are not allowed to revert back to standing, even if rebuilding areas of the ground.

Not sure if this still stands if moving to a new ground when in the lower leagues.

It also won't be required, there's been talk all season of closing the Railway Stand and getting people closer to the pitch to aid the atmosphere and save cash.

Personally I think they can fit all of next seasons 'crowd' in the Bycars if the current incumbents keep their place at the top table. If Vale continue the form they have shown since December then they may well all fit into Lorne St. Bycars.

The disabled stand might be the one.===
